Hi the F30 is quite a refined car and at 80ish + on the motorway/ A roads it's very good road noise wise inside the car. Now what I'd hate would be an exhaust drone coming through the car when I'm cruising along at these speeds on M/A roads. Any exhaust noise under acceleration is fine I test drove a S3 and at 80ish it was like being in a mk 2 XR2 fiesta !!
The vert has drone - can't speak for hard top. My 335d is WAY quieter.

Garage List
Chris had an M Performance exhaust fitted and 19's fitted [?] if I recall. The stock exhaust is fine, doesn't drone and if fitted with MPSS tyres, a good cruiser. If I was doing a very long run and had a choice of a 2 or 4 series I would probably choose the 4 for the space and quiet smoothness. Normal day to day use, the M235i every time.

Hmm my M235i was a)manual and thus only 6 gears and b) fitted with MPE which might have created a minute amount of drone.

For me at 4k miles a year I would be in the M235i or M2 manual. However everyone is different and has differing requirements. I don't think an 8AT M235i with the excellent standard exhaust would be a worry drone wise no chance.

test drove the car and think it's a fantastic drive ... but the interior space is just a bit cramped for me would be a nightmare getting my gran daughter in and out of here baby seat so it looks like I'll have to wait a bit and get a 340i or 440i a bit further down the line (also couldn't believe how little my 330d is worth after only 11 1/2 months )

Not a bad deal this for a M235i.

Having just been through a similar predicament, I plumped for the 4 series. For me, the feel of the 4 felt leagues ahead of the 2, which felt quite budget inside in places. Horses for courses though. I can imagine the 2 would be better for throwing round the B roads, but thats not my raison d'être these days.

I know what you mean about the interior especially no temp gauge (oil or water) for the engine. Looks like a 435i/335i for me when I eventually do change my car
