I heard the same from my dealer, they were able to show me a part number and a price for the kit but no ETA. They at least had the right details, "no intake this time, tune + exhaust", etc. Still waiting.

Part number my dealer gave me is 11 12 2 408 981. Price is listed as 2,703 with no currency specified. This is from a US dealer but they don't have a ton of info beyond the part number and list price. I have heard in Europe the B58 MPPK is around EUR2,900, not sure what to make of the difference. Would have thought it would be more than 2,700 in the US. We'll see.
Also the non-MPPK exhaust that is available now is up on the BMW website, looks like BMW is calling it a silencer. I'm trying to get my dealer to confirm whether it is available for 6MTs since I've heard different things on that. Part # for the silencer is 18302406953. http://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/53...MANCE-SILENCER |

My dealer was able to add the MPE and it does not mention silencer. I don't want silencer being used to describe an exhaust that costs 1000+

I've been asking my dealer to investigate whether there is a logical upgrade path from the MPE available now to the full MPPK. My car should come in in late April/early May. If just the MPE is out and I still plan on getting the MPPK down the road, does it make sense to get the MPE, or should I just wait? There have been some reports that the non-MPPK exhaust is different, just an axle-back ("silencer") while the one that comes with the MPPK has a mid-pipe and adjustable flaps. The question is, can you just add the mid-pipe and the tune to upgrade to MPPK down the road without incurring redundant costs? Or are the muffler sections different? No answers yet, but I'm curious if anyone finds out. Edit: Sort of looks like even the mufflers are different, to the extent that you can believe these diagrams. Here is one, supposedly of the Power and Sound Kit. From this thread: click And here is the "silencer" from RealOEM. The muffler looks totally different. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=18_1153 There are also some pics of a boxed MPE/silencer here: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1215054 Last edited by Big Nodge; 03-08-2016 at 08:07 AM.. |

Whats the price comparison between the 340i Power and Sound Kit, and the 335i MPPK + Exhaust? For $2700, I'm wondering if there are better options for power, but I guess the added cost to the BMW P&S Kit is the fact it doesn't void the warranty.

I'd say there is no doubt that the JB4 route will be a better bang-for-the-buck in terms of a dollar/power gain ratio. But the MPPK has a slicker integration, and more importantly protects your warranty.
I've always gone the aftermarket tune route with my Audis in the past, and never had any major warranty issues. But that was usually well into the lifecycle of an engine so issues were well-known. The 340 is a more expensive car, and the B58 is new. So I'm thinking M Performance this time around. I could always add a JB4 down the road if I'm out of warranty, bored, or more comfortable with the B58. |

I'm convinced the Performance Exhaust I have now (installed at port) is NOT the same exhaust you get with the complete 340i MPPK. This means my current MPE exhaust will need to be replaced with another one. If this is the case, it's a waste of money, for me.
Regarding another topic: The aftermarket is getting impressive horsepower gains with the B58 engine. However, BMW swears up and down, because of the increased back pressure with the MPPK, you can't push out considerably more horsepower without changing the 340i's stock exhaust. The aftermarket companies have yet to address this issue--at least in a combined package from the same company. |

Also, I'm still on skinny snow tires and still in the break-in period. So, there's no full throttle or downshifting sound I've heard firsthand while in the cabin. However, a CA at my dealer also has a 340i with the MPE. From the outside, the mid-RPM downshifting has a satisfying burble-backfire sound. I have yet to hear--in person--full-throttle acceleration from outside a 340i MPE. |

Makes me think it is very similar to the 335i axle back MPE. Very interesting

Also, before bmwusa.com took it down from their site, the performance exhaust was listed as 35i and 40i exhaust, in the accessories catalog. So, there's that. Last edited by Goody4; 03-08-2016 at 09:23 PM.. |

Yeah, and if you put the part number in on getbmwparts.com it doesn't say ///M. Says something like sport/performance muffler. Goody4

The 340i stock exhaust sounds better than the 335i stock exhaust. I'd have to imagine the MPE is better on a 340i than 335i.
Add some downpipes and you should be golden

Can't wait for this kit to be released in the US. Love reading this thread. Any day now, I keep telling myself, any day now, any day now.
If they don't release it sometime this century, I will be forced to use a JB4 with just downpipe. I think that'll fix the sound and power problems. If people are looking for a better sound, code for active sound for the m3 Anyway, what was I saying? Any day now, any day now, any day now? |
