Am thinking I might have a drive of a manual M140 when dealers get a demo in..

Some have said the manual M135i (and I assume the M140i) doesnt "feel" as fast as the ZF auto.

Some interesting vids on Joe Achilles Youtube channel on this where he also agrees with this statement - but tested both manual/auto cars against each other on the road and there is no difference at all.

He's gone for overkill on his latest 45mins of M2 vs outgoing M135i yikes.

Sorry OT.

A manual will always feel slower than the equiv auto these days because it is in essence. I still lobe rowing those gears though.

Yes that new vid looked promising. But far too much repeating himself of the same comments over and over! Could have been edited to half the length without losing the useful content.
Also, I wouldn't be driving like that on the public road and filming myself - with the speedo in view!!! I noticed of some of his other vids he actually deliberately blurs out the speedo.

Summary we could all have written in 20s without even driving either car. M2 is better at 9 and 10/10. M135 is better at being a car 1-3/10ths and costs considerably less.

Insightful Delighted I did not watch it all!

I just didn't like the auto box with the M135i when I drove it a while back. In that car I found it had too many gears and really missed the 3rd gear urge and pull you get with the rev range.

Just think the 8AT suits the 330d perfectly due to lower power band and the low down torque but I will have my turbo petrol motors with a manual thank you :-) .. while you can still get them !

Certainly good value, wont be many years or months before a 6cyl turbo rwd manual hatch is binned into history

I just configured a basic one online and went to finance... £4723 deposit contribution before you haggle. wow that's £28.5k for a basic spec car before any more haggling. bargain.

Nearer £27 if you can PoV spec it a little and avoid election seats and dampers, not wrong with that spec car. Thrills for pound it's the best.

Correct to both the above. But given we all like spec, I still see a nicely loaded M140i at £30k great value.

DO you reckon you can get the standard silver 18 inch M sport alloys on an M140 if you asked, rather than the grey ones.. never been a fan of them

No, no option on factory order. However dealers are bound to have sets of the 18" wheels that have come off demos/customer car after MP upgrades.
