If you're working on cars yourself then the cost of tools initially seems high, but instead of paying someone £100 you invest £100 in tools which'll last a lifetime. I've done that multiple times with special things and it saves you a huge amount in the long run. That said I don't really have the situation where I could use this setup just now and my ideal long term plan is a workshop with enough height for a two post lift (used 2-posters aren't much more than one of these things). |

This was probably more useful to me 5 or 6 years ago when I was doing a lot more modifications on the driveway on my S2000 and Civic prior to that, I barely do anything on the 3er, most things I'll just take to a garage to get done. I'm getting older and lazier!

A proper garage/workshop with a proper lift would be awesome. It's definitely on the list of things our next property needs to have, or have the potential for. No way could I afford that down here, but if we move back to Scotland then much more feasible.

Just wanted to update this thread. There is a garage equipment company which makes a very similar (I think it is better as it has wheels and a return spring rather than an air cylinder). I have just ordered one and it i £1050 plus delivery...

big bump…
what is the deal with these in terms on the BMW type jacking locations on the sills? As far as I understand it, “double stacking” of rubber blocks is a big no no when lifting cars. Obviously the quick jacks come with a selection of large enough solid rubber blocks - but my question is, are these actually suitable to put under the OEM jacking points, without crushing / damaging the plastic blocks under the side skirts? I have rubber jack pad adapters that can be used with a normal trolley jack, but they probably aren’t “tall” enough themselves to sit inside the recessed area on the quick jacks where the rubber blocks are meant to sit and then engage in the jack blocks without the frame of the quick jack hitting the sills. So, in summary, is the plastic jacking point at risk of being damaged by the quick jack large rubber blocks that likely don’t fit inside the OEM jacking points like the jack pad adapters do? Hope this makes sense! |

The quick jacks blocks I’ve found to be excellent for putting under the bmw ones.
The issue I had more recently was with G platform generation cars, both 3 series and X3 where the jacks points are very far apart and to far apart for the QJ. Perfect for F30 though.

As Tengocity has said
My pal has these for his E39 M5 and his current F31 320D and he's not had any issues at all raising his car But his Dad's G30 330i they've had issues with but got around it with some MDF blocks that they 'designed' if that makes sense

Maybe what you need?? I thought about buying one of these and wish I had, but now seeing as I don't have a double garage anymore and the drive has a slope kind of glad I didn't, although I would have probably works out a way to use them |
