Im not sure if mine is weird or not.
But I have an itch for any of the 7 series before E65. So E23, E32 or E38. Ive had an F01, so maybe thats why they appeal to me, but I have zero interest in an E65 haha.

Great fun.. Sounded great, loads of character and pretty well equiped. It was a shame that it was put in the shade by the 500. That car stole all the limelight as it was far more fashionable. I wish they let Arbath do what they did to the Panda rather than the 500. The biggest issue I had with the Panda 100hp was trying to justify it to everyone that mocked it, and they did.... Car folk and non petrolheads just saw the Fiat and Panda badge.. Ohh and it shredded the inside edge of it's front tyres. It really was a good, fun car. The 100hp was also mentioned on another car forum just the other day.... Are they now making a come back ?

The Sintra was epic though, a 3.0 V6 with over 200hp in what resembled a Transit van for appearance. Remember going on on holiday in it to Devon and having to refuel at the Michaelwood services as it had used a tank full already.... I did have a caravan on the back though, but even so 16mpg was a bit of shock after a bunch of diesels... Thank god for a fuel card! |

The Lancia delta HF integrale The Renault 5 turbo 2 I owned two lesser versions of these two cars but I am a big fan of wide fenders.

I'm old enough to have had a bunch of weird car crushes. Largely in order, and never owned:
Daimler V8 250. Family friend owned one when I was a kid. He got rid of it before I was 17, colour me heartbroken. Rover P5B. Got offered one cheap in great condition when an older failing lady's eyesight finally got found out. At age 20 insurance would have been prohibitive, let alone putting petrol in the thing. Trumph Vitesse and GT6. Six pot smoothness. Scimitar GTE. Test drove one, but it didn't have the overdrive option. Rover SD1 2600. Why? Because everyone else wanted a 3.5 V8, so I had to be different. Audi Coupe. 5-cylinder weirdness without the Quattro pricetag. Mercedes 190. Had one as a rental when they ran out of Fords and Vauxhalls. First automatic I had driven any distance. Loved it. Vauxhall Senator. Was going to get a nice white ex-police example and fit my Ham radio antennas all over like a porcupine. Would never get challenged on the motorway ever again. (Full disclosure, at the time I owned a 2 litre Montego in dark blue also antenna festooned. I was variously mistaken for the vice squad or a taxi.) 2000-2005 Pontiac Bonneville Supercharged. Come on, supercharged and designed by Wayne Cherry, what's not to like. 2012 Maserati Quattroporte S. 4.7 V8 with the fixed variators, interior like Noel Coward's front room. They still come up stupid cheap over here but I've always sat on my hands. White ones look like stranded whales, buy silver, wine or blue with the beige interior. Maserati GranTurismo. The 4.7 with the ZF 6-speed in silver, wine or blue, please. |

I would've had to have bought one just to say I owned a car with a V5 engine. Vive la difference!

I've bought an SL400. Just missed an ex demo in Selenite grey so had to plump for Obsidian Black. FFS. Mega cleaning but will look stellar when clean.
What is the point in a Night pack on a black car? Gives you the nice wheels and gloss black mirrors, diffuser and splitter. No point really! |

That Merc is stunning. Going back to the weird element of this, I've actually been thinking about this a bit the last few days. Maybe crush is a strong word for some of them, but 'strong desire to own' may be appropriate
Volvo Amazon 4dr The aforementioned Fiat Tipo Sedicivalvole Alfa 145 Cloverleaf (I never should have sold mine) Volvo 850 T5R (I never should have sold my R) Daihatsu Charade JDM with the turbo/charger combo Fiat Panda 4x4 (an original one) Vauxhall Calibra 4x4 (same goes with the Cav Turbo 4x4 but the Calibra still looks amazing IMO) Lada Riva. Stop s******ing, they're still available new and hark back to a bygone age of simplicity and engineering over electronics and programming. Vauxhall Frontera Mk1 in velvet green. This one takes some explaining. Basically this was a car my dad had new back in 1994 and took us on lots of adventures with bikes and boots and basically a total sentimental trip. The Tipo is a bit like that too but I'd go for the performance version rather than the carb'd 1.4 engine! Other stuff is a bit obvious but those definitely stand out as oddballs. |

I'm hoping you are right about the quality. The interior is a bit dated but beautifully built. The car has every option available except magic sky and the driver assistance pack, neither of which I wanted. It's a demo car with low mile at six months old. There are very few around with 70 plates.

And the Ascona 400 was also one of my car crushes. Can you tell my brother worked at a Vauxhall Opel garage. The Monza GSE 3000 was another that I always wanted and never got! |
