Model deletion is good - looks clean.
Vis Pack and HK is worth the wait on their own for sure. I'd personally take off the folding rear headrests and add sun protection glass - but that's just personal opinion! It's a very nice spec - oh and lumbar support? Yep, its worth it. |

The obvious options are stated by everyone. Don't forget extended storage too

I love the rear view camera, given that the rear visibility is so poor (as with almost any modern car).
In terms of trim i'd have gone with the estoril finisher with having the EBII body colour, it looks right. Model designation delete - interesting one this IMO. If you do it do people think you did it as you've got a base model? Or do you do it because you want to suprise with the performance? On balance I chose to leave badges on. |

Thanks guys. The EB2 trim finisher has an 8 week delay hence the change to brushed. Am already way way over stretched and don't want to mess the dealer with further changes after cancelling car two weeks before delivery. That said, I just don't like the tinted windows and decided on wing mirrors over storage. Am tapped out. I kinda agree that model deletion wasn't necessary but I'm OK with people thinking I got a lesser model. Discrete. In shocking blue. Lol.

Am now feeling very lucky that I managed to order one on 4th January, to my exact specification, and collect on 1st March (and that was delayed almost a week solely for new registration purposes so could have been collected earlier!).

Regarding the items which you mentioned below which are causing delays in production, these are effecting the BMW 3 Series Saloon but not the BMW 3 Series Touring. I keep checking your order and expected delivery is showing for week commencing 6th May. Odd that one body style is impacted but not another as I'd understood saloon and touring were identical from the B pillar forwards, so would have thought that the parts were interchangable, but I'm not going to complain if I can get my car in early May!! |

Scratch that question - you've already told me when you placed your order. 2 weeks in ordering equates to 6 weeks in delivery - can't be true/!? time for a new thread...

Yeah perhaps. But then again they must get loads of sales through the lease companies - so it would pay to keep them sweet. Might just be a case of squeaky wheels getting grease.

I'd always assumed it would be the other way around - I buy one car every few years, whereas a lease company buys tends or hundreds per year, so I'd have expected the lease companies to have the upper hand.

NISFAN - you're right - I hadn't noticed the F30/F31 difference in our orders... It's so annoying to wait so long. It goes back to the question on why is there such a long wait - I bet factory options has the most to do with it. In that case, if we go back to the complaints lots of us have around wanting more stuff as 'standard' - if they just put lots more of that in then more people would go with standard configs and they could build more cars and be confident they'd shift them. But then I know nothing about this stuff. I just want my car quicker.

@zerolight: Do you really need the folding rear headrests and the folding rear seats? You could spec M Sport Adaptive Suspension instead. You'll kick yourself later on for not having ordered this. Just my 2p's worth.

Hi F30AM - I really don't need the folding headrests - but for £50 for a bit of visibility, I think they are worth it. I really need the folding seats - family of 4 - we need to goto IKEA!
Honestly, I really don't want the adaptive suspension. The M Sport sitting firmly in between adaptive's comfort and firm is fine with me. I rarely drive without the family - I'd bet that if I had a button to toggle between soft and firm suspension, my better half would super glue it in soft! I'm just very grateful that I discovered this forum and the advice within that helped me cancel and re-order with the vital: Viz Pack, VSS, H/K, and folding mirrors to add the spec I had already ordered. I've already followed advice and cancelled the model delete. |

You know if you need to go to Ikea - you're better off with a touring

Sorry, yes, you did!
I was just commenting that it seems people going through lease companies seem to be getting delayed, whereas private orders seem to be holding still or only moving slightly, which to me seems counter intuitive. Of course I've now tempted fate and I'll get an email tomorrow telling me mine has moved to July... 2014... |
