I get you completely! Here is my old E90 LCI 330d 6MT doing the 0-60 sprint. Find me an F30 or E90 with the 6spd Slushmatic that sounds as raucous...
Turn it up and enjoy

Sounds great, apart from the clunking noise every couple of seconds.

Sounds OK, not as good as my 335d though.

I don't think anyone is claiming it doesn't sound like a diesel; just not the 'customary clatter' associated with most diesels (especially 4 pots).

I have certainly heard petrol engines that sound worse than the best diesels. Despite being a BMW fan, I'll be honest and say I don't think the 320i and 328i sound that sweet.

Best petrol>best diesel>worst petrol>worst diesel.

EDIT: Nick, I've only just noted you have a 328i so my response was honestly not tailored towards that. I could remove my comment but I did say I was being honest.

No worries brommy.
I'm just lamenting the loss of cars with a decent engine note. There's nothing a sweet as a petrol inline normally aspirated six.

Now all we seem to have is tractor diesel fours, not too bad for a diesel sixes, and bloody downsized turbo petrol fours.

Anyway the correct name for Diesel engines is "Dag Dags" due to the customary idle sound.

Petrol: Juice of the gods.
Diesel: Juice of the devil.

Hell can be such fun.

At least it won't spontaneously combust with all that naked flame around.

And if the worst comes to the worst you can always run it on used chip fat : D

Wicked Diesels are so versatile. God bless you petrol heads. Your day will come when Diesels are too expensive to be clean.
