I think the NBT iDrive system came out with the 2013 model. I'm not sure if the 2012 model uses CIC or NBT but that's a major difference imo.

Bumping this ancient thread. Anyone with an AH3 had an issue with the hybrid system Electric Motor Electronics (EME)? Dealership is quoting me $4700 to replace it. Car has 58,000 miles and was in the shop a couple times last year for hybrid drivetrain related issues such as not recharging the battery, no hybrid output, etc. They only updated/reloaded software on those visits.

I thought the hybrid system had a 7 yr /70,000 warranty though not sure if it applies to the EME causing your issues.
My AH3 has 89,000 miles with no hybrid related issues. Been a great car to drive.

Helping a friend sell his 2013 Activehybrid 3 (he just replaced with a Tesla Model 3) and this thread has some very useful information on the car. Pretty fun car, I've been driving it around for a week or so.
