I hooked up the lights. Works great. However I forgot to unplug the battery before doing so and now the annoying airbag light is on again. david51 or anyone else do you happen to have a solution for this? I already reused the f32 airbag so this is not the issue anymore. Annoying as hell

Wow, what incredibly detailed information, this and another thread have been very helpful to me.
This is my first post here, after i sat in my sisters F30 seats, i just had to investigate the possibility of fitting them into my old trusty E46. What i would really like help with is: Can all the electrical movements of the seat incl lumbar and side bolster be checked to be working with the seat out of the car (eg breakers yard) with 12v applied to red and brown wire in the following pic??? (originally posted by GCinFLA): My plan thus far for anyone interested: 1) The rails would need 1 adapter plate which i can fabricate out of the correct grade of metal. 2) A seat occupancy sensor emulator will be needed for the passenger side 3) I was going to remove the airbag in the seats with the info in this thread by david51, but after the reading the following thread: http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86535 I think it will be easier just to NOT connect up anything to the blue connector in this pic (not mine) which i believe is for the seat airbag : Last edited by Oz Striker; 10-09-2017 at 04:58 PM.. |

Just wanted to post all the pictures back to this thread. So I got everything to work. Basically have to reuse the original airbag and electronic control module then everything works. I even connect the M to light up. Any questions feel free to questions me. Thanks to david51 for all your help with this project.

So is this as simple as getting OEM M4 seats and reusing the original airbags and electronic control module? Or do you need to modify any of the harnesses? Any coding required?
Are the rear seats just a simple swap? |

you can install the 2 original M4 seats directly with the original M4 module and airbags.
following the year of your bmw it works directly or if it does not work, you must reuse your original module |

I got a pair of f82 seats into my f87 m2. Had very similar symptoms as others here the controls were backwards for up/down and the button on the back of the seat don't work. I swapped the control boxes and everything is working perfectly now at least for the passenger side. The driver side however I'm still having issues. The seat with or without the control boxes swapped still won't move forward backward (only clicks when using the control button). With the control boxes swapped the button on the back of the seat triggers that click noise from the control box from under the seat. However when the box is swapped I get a "seat position malfunction" and "driver restraint" error additionally when pressing the heated seat button the lights only flash and won't stay solid. The seller that sold me the seats told me that I need to get the seats programmed which sounds false becasus I already have heat and electric seats stock. Tried just about every combination the last few days with no luck. Additionally i noticed the yellow plug from under the seat between the driver side and passenger side are different. Not sure if the driver seat is missing the black and gray connector. Any feedback or insight would be highly appreciated. Not sure if I should take the seat to an Indy to take a look at since I doubt the dealership will help with this even I was willing to pay the bill for diagnosis.

I never encounter these error codes though. Maybe the f82 and f87 are different and not an easy straightforward swap. The f82 and f32 definitely works. If you try swapping the ECM already there’s nothing much you can do. I don’t even think coding would works either. Maybe the pins in the connector are different?
