Cool idrive Satellite radio feature
One cool thing that I realized yesterday was that the sirius idrive menus are awesome compared to other cars I have driven.
A couple of cool features: First the sirius radio portion of idrive has a strip of icons on the left of the screen. You can customize the way that the stations or song are displayed. For instance, I was listening to alt nation yesterday and under alt nation was a list of the other rock stations. I saw an icon to customize the menus on the left and each click changes the way the menu is viewed. You can click it to see a lists of artists playing on the various stations. Click it again to see all the songs that are playing on the various stations, etc. You can also see which songs play next on various stations or songs that were previously played. This is so awesome. One additional thing that I noticed on the Sirius menu is that you can add to favorites. For example, if you like Motley Crue you can add them to your favorites and it will find their songs for you, or if you like one of their songs you can find it using the favorites function. This is awesome and the idrive Satellite radio menus and functions behave similarly to the actual sirius radio hardware that you would buy from them or in the store. This is where the technology has surpassed the Japanese. You cannot find these functions as least on Hondas with Nav and satellite radio. |

And from what I remember is that there is an area of the mirror that is "squared out" to allow for the compass to display. |

1. Google search 2. Split screen on/off ... 8. My wife's profile When my profile is selected: 1. Google search 2. Split screen ... 8. My profile The point I am making is that pressing 8 the first time shifts to my wife's profile and her function keys. And of course, seat settings. Pressing it again moved it all back to my profile. Her number 8 is me, and my number 8 is her. The cool thing is that if you put your names in the profile, you can hover lightly over the 8 key to see who's profile is selected. Basically, if the other persons name shows when you hover lightly then your profile is the current one. |

On the F2, each profile remembers your last seat position before the car was locked or the profile was changed. So, pressing the 8 button will call up my wife's profile and move ti her seats position. If you happen to be driving then a warning screen will appear on idrive. You have to click ok in order for your seats to move. On the F2 the profile is not associated with a seat memory button. Instead, it is the last seat position before you lock the car (or change the profile) under that profile. So, if the car is under my wife's profile and I change the seat position manually it all gets messed up. The cure is to have seat memory position 1 under both profiles to have stored her seat settings. Then seat memory position 2 on both profiles should have my settings stored. This way correcting a profile that gets messed up is easy.... Anytime the seats got screwed up, just select your profile...the seats should move if no one screwed them up. If they don't then just press your seat memory recall until your seats change. Then everything is all set again. Finally, there is an option that must be set/unset in idrive in order for your seats to move when profiles are changed. |
