And I never understand that "one is a track monster the other is for carving mountain roads" WTF! It doesn't have to be one or the other .. A GTR is a track monster that will crave up mountain roads.

Competition - "the chassis wants to oversteer, it's not a easy car to drive" .. Usually ends there. Porsche - "it's not a easy car to drive, wants to oversteer, makes you really work for it but ITS SO REWARDING ONCE YOU GET IT RIGHT" .. Lol can it be anymore persuasive. Or "do I miss a manual? Not really.." Lol every other car needs a manual but when the RS goes PDK.. Everyone just sugar coats it or points to the GT4 for a manual. Which GT3 RS customer wants a fkn Cayman.

Not only are there tons of GT3RS owners that want (and bought GT4) there are owners of the 918 that own and adore the Boxster Spyder and Cayman GT4. A buddy of mine just told me at a NYE party that he was instructing at Watkins Glen for PCA and had a guy there that owns a 918 and said he loves driving his Boxster Spyder as much as his 918. One day perhaps you will understand that driving enjoyment isn't all about the fastest from point A to point B. The two most fun cars I ever owned were my E46 M3 and 987 CaymanS. Obviously from some of your prior posts all you care about is how fast you can go in 1,320 feet. Whooooooeeeeee that's fun |

Are there other things that are faster? "Better"? Of course...but the overall package is really really good. It's the best car I've ever owned, and the sound is a big part of that.

Please try to follow along and read my comment in context. I never suggested that a GT3RS buyer "settled" for a GT4. You said what GT3RS owner wants a GT4......and the answer is there are many. There are many GT3RS (talking 997 variant) that bought a GT4 and quite a few 918 owners as well. You made it sound as if its beneath a GT3 owner to want/buy a GT4. That is what I am commenting on. Hence, my comment on speed isn't everything and how the 918 owner adores his Spyder. I personally don't understand why Porsche did not make the GT3 and/or the GT3RS with a manual. Purist want them even though the PDK is certainly quicker around a track. Last edited by MPerformance211; 01-03-2016 at 04:24 PM.. |

Next gen GT3 will offer MT. Porsche learned their lesson and listened to its customers.

Well that's the trouble - sound, like looks, are very subjective.
I would say that the 981 sounds better than the 235 that I had for 18 months by a large margin. Not sure where it will be when the M2 arrives, but that has sounded better than the F8X on videos. The Jag F type sounds much better stock - that's something they "get" very well, and I would agree generally that AMG (like Jaguar) produces very nice sounding cars. I would call it even with the TTRS that is in my neighborhood - my car is higher pitched than his, but both are good. I have a much shorter term experience with P cars, but the 991, 981, GT4, GT3s - man, they all sound good to my ears. And if you want to look at aftermarket, well this sounds just as good as the GT-R example above to me.

And certaintly agree with others, 911's and Cayman's sound great with exhaust. Just attend one Continental Tire race and you will realize. Actually he sounds quite biased. Last edited by DieGrüneHölle; 01-03-2016 at 05:11 PM.. |

I'm just not sure it "goes" with the car - it's more of a muscle car sound to me, which is also nice, One drawback to the Borla is that it doesn't have valves. Always in full attack mode. I guess that could also be a positive

I would use the m3 for daily and get a convertible carrera (carrera s) for weekends. And use the difference of 4s for improvements on m3. Or gtr-daily , carrera for weekends

Driving enjoyment isn't about numbers all the time. Reason why the GT4 was EVO COTY over the 488 and 675 and whatever other great cars were in the running. Some of the most fun I've had was in my Cayman S...and for sound mine had a Remus exhaust and that car sounded fantastic. Got compliments all the time. |
