That is incorrect! ALPINA's are built by the Alpina factory in Buchloe, Germany. ALPINA BURKARD BOVENSIEPEN GMBH + CO. KG Alpenstraße 35 - 37 86807 Buchloe Germany Internet: www.alpina.de

it is quite unfortunate Alpina doesn't perform upgrades on non-alpina cars. I would be dropping my car for a twin turbo setup in no time :/

So is the S55 and Alpina N55 just a N55 with dual twinscrolls? Kinda like the S63tu turbo but along the side? So you get all the tech updates for the N55 and then the full pulse modulated turbo and exhaust? For the M3 maybe the third turbo kicks in low or high... but knowing on the M3 has the front middle and top air inlet... then the air box on the left in the S55 bay is just an additional source of air in addition to the water cooled dual air inlets feeding the dual twinscrolls? So the third air inlet is just going through an air to air intercooler?
So it is like getting all the best of the N54 and N55 and water cooled intake? I could see the M3/M4 besting this by 3.5 3.7 0-60 and then still have a robust top end or just a twin turbo N55 with latest updates |

I think Alpina's are dramatically overpriced. Also, the huge wheels they tend to put on their cars along with extra appointments also add weight. I expect a bloated price tag and curb weight, with not a lot of penetration into the M3/335i market.

The real question is, would it also do fantastic numbers on 30-70, 60-100, 80-140, quarter mile, etc.? Fast 0-60 is relatively easy to achieve. |

My biggest concern with that 0-60 time is the weight of the 335i. |

This just cannot be true! For the limited number of Alpinas that are sold, it is economically not possible to setup your own factory to build these, and be only 25% more expensive than mass produced BMWs (but also deliver 25% more power and goodies). I mean, I haven't even seen an Alpina in real life in my lifetime, and I live in Belgium, next to Germany... My guess is they are built by BMW, and then "massaged" at Alpina factory. Edit: Quote from Wikipedia: Alpina works closely with BMW and their processes are integrated into BMW's production lines, thus Alpina is recognized by TÜV as an automobile manufacturer, in contrast to other performance specialists which are aftermarket tuners. For instance, the Alpina B7 is produced at the same assembly line in Dingolfing, Germany, along with BMW's own 7-Series Last edited by hwelvaar; 02-15-2013 at 04:51 PM.. Reason: Wiki info |

I am not talking about guessing. This is a known fact. Alpina builds their own product. Alpina is their OWN manufacture, recognized by the German goverment. Every car that they build has an ALPINA vin and is not a BMW. That is why their cars do not carry the BMW roundel(s). I have been to three BMW factories over here: Munich, Regensburg and Leipzig. BMW only builds BMW's. Alpina builds their own cars. Just like MB and AMG's relationship. Every AMG car gets built by AMG, not MB. AMG is far larger factory than Alpina. Alpina History Lesson

I for one am disappointed that the B3 won't be a V6 like "Sam_B3's" F30.

Who said this was a twin-turbo. They could be calling it a bi-turbo because its a twin scroll. I would doubt they would do that much R&D to put twins on. Just not logical. Easier to put a bigger twin scroll to get the numbers. We all know what a bigger turbo will do on this platform with the right tuning. I just tuned my buddies n55 FBO xi and its quick. It was at 365 awhp and I walked all over him. Now he can hang in a rolling 3rd gear pull and I'm making 450 whp and 500 wtq. Unfortunately we didn't have room to really see how it would hang in 4th, but it won't be long before PIR is open again and we can go play without traffic. I think it's only a matter of time and we'll see big numbers on the N55's, just need a turbo upgrade option and thing will get interesting.

I am still waiting on a pic of that engine bay... maybe the military took it from him because it was so fast it was classified like faster than mr fusion or maybe it was a decepticon in disguise

This car will cost an arm and leg more than a stock 335i so who cares if it has 410hp?
Most of us know that with $3k you can get a FBO kit and achieve similar numbers. And then you have all this money left over for other mods that "you" feel are important. Here's a good example: Stock 335i = $50,000 Alpine B3 = $62,500 (25% more) $12,500 is a lot of money!!! Hell, go buy a stock M4 and you're done. |
