Maybe it's all psychology but in my mind the current M3 looks much better than the upcoming M4 even though M4 will certainly perform better number wise. I'm a little bit disappointed that the 4-series didn't come out as aggressive as in the early pics/concepts but most often they never do.. :/ My dream is that current M3:s drop so much in prices when the M4 is out that I can afford to buy one...
Still love my 335 though, my common sense says it's a better car for me than the M3.. But M3 V8 sounds awesome |

It's marketing. Not to mention that it obviates any need for non-cosmetic upgrades on the LCI model.

Far from it. Esp. in E9X form. The M3 is the everyday driving supercar for both the successful and unsuccesful-(trust fund babies.)

Good point. He is great and has always been entertaining... but maybe the 4 is just "blah" to him.

Are you serious!?! You can't be serious. That's just wrong on so many levels. Everyone who bought an M3, bought an M3 because they did NOT want the "M4." Those who got their M3 recently are very blessed since so many people were scrambling for allocations.

And I agree. Rumor said that the E92 was supposed to be the new 4-Series back in 2007 and somehow it got dismissed at the corporate level. I would say that it would have been a much better 4-Series back in 2007 than this F32 4-Series is now. This F32 is closer to the F30 (exterior and interior) than the E92 is to the E90, IMO. BMW should have given this 4-Series more potent engines at least (a 430i and a 440i would have been better introductions) so there would have been a more defined and definite difference between this and the F30. Not that this 4-Series is bad in any form or function, but this new nomenclature is missing that special "thing". It is just not there. You know, something more like a 4 than a 3 and a half... |

Abso-frickin-lutely. BMW better bring it with the M line up. They have already set the bar pretty dam low with the f3x cars, allowing themselves more than enough space to fill with the M cars. |

Yes, I believe that most people on this forum recognize that it is a 3 series (and still maintained hope that it would out perform the very tame and blah f30). That is why we expected so much. E92's have never looked so good. |

While it's an overall thumbs-up review, when using descriptions like "sporting pretensions", "not that exciting" "still a great engine as it always has been" and "will never see the track" doesn't really say this car is a big leap forward and these descriptions are different from the N/A inline 6 reviews of years past. Seems like Lago and Harris kind of feel the same way about the car.

I was thinking the same thing. BMWs used to just ALWAYS look great, no matter the trim.

Well, it's nice that one reviewer has nice things to say about the car. Even so, if Carlos is to be believed, the transition from sport coupe to luxury coupe with sporty feel has happened. That is, if also this car can be seen as a luxury car. Leaving that debate aside, however, the car is probably going to appeal just fine to most of the public, but judging, again by the reviewer's comments, it probably isn't what true sport coupe fans would have liked to see in a 3/4 series coupe.
For myself, I think I could be quite satisfied with the car, particularly as a DD, but I'm not chomping at the bit to get one. I'll wait to see what the 2er brings to the table. In the meantime, I'll just continue to enjoy my E92 with which I am very happy.

^^+1. That is my understanding too. That is what BMW told me at this press event in Lisbon - there are only TWO steering modes one in comfort(and Eco and Eco+) and one in Sport(or S+). Dackel

The M4 will be a very good car but that doesn't make the e92 M3 bad.
If i had to decide i would buy the e92 (S65 unique V8 yay). i will keep my 335i (e92) for a couple of years. i just don't see me buying another 335i/435i with 306hp and nearly the same engine. Ok, it is lighter and the new 8 Speed is fantastic but i just don't need it to go 250km/h on the Autobahn.
