That is the easy part though. The difficulty comes with writing the VIN.

Is this necessary? Wht demge01 did was a simple change to one line of code, no need to write any VIN or anything to get BMW Live working. SmoothSteeringHopeful also have no-nav radio professional HU w/6NH, judging from the fotos. Are there any fundamental differences between US-spec & EU/ROW-spec radio professional HU?

I don't know what's in the F30. I thought Combox Media was standard equipment, but if it isn't as some have stated, then I assumed it has to have a MULF module for the Bluetooth / USB functions. It has to have one or the other.

Also Anyone know where the mulf unit is? I thought it would be under the trunk cover next to the fuse box. |

AFAIK there's no combox nor MULF in the F30 as standard. If u have 6NH then it's all handled by the HU, otherwise it's the comboxes for 6NK/NL.

Interesting. So if the Bluetooth / USB functions are built into the Head Unit, for cars with a Combox and 6NK or 6NL, do they have a different Head Unit without it being built-in?

hi, i am facing the same problem as SmoothSteeringHopeful.
How can i enable data in bluetooth? there is no such option in the settings (only telephone and audio). Tested my phone (iphone 4) for data tethering and it works with my laptop. Car has 6NH combox. |

The part numbers for the headunit are different for cars with 6NH & 6NK/NL. Several pages back someone said they bought a combox & it didn't work with their headunit (original spec 6NH), so I think this is the main reason, namely the HU that came with 6NH won't work with combox & they need to replace it with a combox-specific one.

On my UK car to enable data transfer:
Press the "option" button on the bottom of the iDrive controller. This should give a menu to switch off display etc. On the same menu there is a box which can be checked to enable data transfer. I'll take a photo later. It's always had this even before I enabled LIVE. Just checking what coding are you doing to enable Live? I only needed to change one setting in the HU CIC files. |

From the bluetooth menu summary, it seems my phone only has
1) audio and 2) phone book enabled. Can't find the symbol for data connection. So it is not activated. |

Thats good to know, though I wonder why US and Euro spec cars would handle bluetooth differently. If Euro spec has a mulf unit to handle bluetooth and US has the headunit handle bluetooth... whats the benefit of even putting the mulf unit in?

Well the only thing I activated was the live one. Try reverting the others back and just do the live activation? Could it be that connected drive is not compatible with live as its either one or the other? |

Has anyone successfully coded the
HUD for a 2012 f10? I'd really love to be able to see calls and songs on my screen instead of having to look around all the time.

So I'm having the same issue that a couple of others are having with a 2013 F30. When trying to read the coding data, I get:
REM [72] File for "cafd_000007a1-005_022_028" not found! FEM_BODY [40] File for "cafd_00000794-004_122_077" not found! HU_CIC [63] File for "cafd_000000f9-007_003_007" not found! I didn't try any of the other modules. They all say readCPS o.k., I just think I mush have the wrong data files. I downloaded the ones in the middle of the thread, the ones on the first post have been removed for some reason... Does anyone have any advice? I'd really appreciate it! |
