NBT has been on all AU F30 since November 2012 production.

Oh okay, that's good, what about the idrive touch?
What I am confused about is do all orders past a certain date automatically become an order to build a new MY? or can you still put orders in for a previous MY even though the new MY production has already started? As mentioned mine was ordered in mid July 2013, but neither the dealer nor did I specify the MY during the sale process, so I wonder if I will get the MY2014 or not... |

According to the BMW website, the new Advanced Real-Time Traffic Information gets refreshed every 3 minutes! I'm so excited to pick up my 2013 ActiveHybrid 3 in a couple of days! |

From OP's question, I assumed (correctly it now appears), he was asking about the new BMT with touchpad that only started with MY 2014.

There is a bit of overlap with model years due to multiple factories. For example this MY, Munich had stopped making 2013 F30s and was making 2014 MY... while at the same time the South Africa factory was still making MY 2013 F30s for a short time. This leads to some of the confusion. But in general, other that this short overlap, new orders are for the latest model year. |

It's extremely unlikely that the CA you worked with didn't know the MY. Pricing on MY2014 has been adjusted, for some options (like ACC) it's a very significant adjustment, he would need to know all of that to put the order together. You should probably call and ask, but if you're getting a 320 or 328 from Germany and ordered in mid-July (which I actually did as well) then I can't imagine you'll be getting a 2013. If you ordered a 335, many of those are built in S. Africa and as someone mentioned, there's a little bit of an MY overlap if you compare S. Africa and a factory in Germany. If you have your vin you can tell easily. |

It certainly makes sense that 3ers destined for .au would be built in SA in terms of shipping cost. I have noticed that the SA facility generates significantly more production delay than the German facilities, at least for the 335 orders from the states that tend to end up there. Perhaps there's just a longer queue, but if your vehicle has not yet started production it doesn't matter where it's built; it's going to be a 2014. |

"The system says it will arrive in October, the chassis number is 9799713." Not sure how I can use these numbers...does the 713 at the end mean july 13? Last edited by Kagawa26; 08-06-2013 at 07:33 AM.. |

And then he also said this when i asked him about a VIN, the new idrive and about MY2014:
"At the stage that your car is at it only has these production numbers and they will attached the vin when it is further down the production line. We currently have cars arriving with the Pro Navigation system and they have a new system which is what you’ll get with yours. I think this is what you are talking about. We cannot say your car is a 2014 anything as it is a August 2013 build and probably a October 2013 arrival and registered in 2013 so you can surely see that there would be an issue with that." In the US and the UK, if you had a production order number, you could go to http://www.bmwusa.com/ or http://www.bmw.co.uk/, create an account and get some minimal tracking on the order there. bmw.co.au doesn't seem to have that functionality though, so perhaps things just work differently. Quote:

yeah no idea if australia even follows the MY thing....anyway if my car started build sometime in July and finished build in Aug 2013 and the South Africa plant starts MY14 builds in Aug, does that make my car a MY14 build or does it have to have the entire production process in Aug 2013 (i.e start after Aug 2013)

I think september makes sense as the previous models were all switched over in september as well. I am pretty sure I won't get the idrive touch then...guess I should've waited a few months more...oh well |

I think if the only real difference is the touch interface then it's not that big a deal, unless they also updated NBT to another version or something? My understanding is NBT has been available in Australian f30s since end of last year productions.

Which model and what accessories did you order? 316/320/328/335? Mine is 328i f31, so some standards are not available in f30. Once in the production month, you should get a VIN, go to bmwvin.com to check your specification.

The only thing you can be sure of is that there is change! I knew I wanted NBT so waited and got a December 2012 production.
