Pretty harrowing viewing, just finished episode 4. Episode 3 was the toughest for me. Don’t think there’ll be many watching on here watching this, so I’ll risk a minor plot giveaway, but why Colin.....just no.....
Going to admit it.. I cried!

I was meaning to watch this has had some very good reviews..plus 80s music

When HIV first became more to the front during the 80s Prisons didn't have a clue so any 1 who came in that was HIV+, a big Red sticker was put on the cell door to indicate they were HIV+...

Thankfully things have moved on and we are more educated about these things..

The soundtrack is great if you like your 80s music.

Yeah, some of the practices even from nurses who you'd think would be more compassionate are truly shocking.

The chief constable of GMP said at a seminar on how police should interact with people with AIDS in 1986 said

"Everywhere I go I see evidence of people swirling around in the cesspit of their own making. Why do homosexuals freely engage in sodomy and other obnoxious sexual practices know the dangers involved?"

Thank God times have changed.

The above chat has reminded me of the film 'Philadelphia' staring Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington.

Amazing to think that film was made in 1993. It must have been very groundbreaking at the time and was probably the first mainstream film to properly acknowledge HIV and homophobia.

Such a beautiful but tragically sad film. I've not watched it for many years. Might have to rewatch it tonight now.

Watching it now. It's ok actually.

Although his accent comes and goes to point I think he gives up altogether!

Treadstone on Amazon is good as well.
Don't bother with Treadstone. There's no series 2 so it ends with everything up in the air. Feel like I wasted 10 hrs watching it now!

The mini western series called 'Godless' on Netlflix is well worth a watch. I would definitely recommend it if you haven't seen.

Thanks for the tip

If you haven’t already seen it I’d recommend the mini series Hatfields & McCoys starring Kevin Costner.

I’m currently watching Octavia Spencer films and watched the The Help last night. Terrific film having you crying with laughter and then sadness the next minute. Lots of big names in a mainly female cast giving great performances.

Watched it a while ago and that set me off on the Octavia Spencer films. If you enjoyed Hidden Figures you’ll enjoy The Help too.

Excellent film, and some truly great acting. But not a patch on how incredible the real characters are/were.

I watched '12 Years a Slave' on netflix the other night. That is some story which is obviously extremely tragic and very hard to watch in some places. Brilliantly acted thoughout with a very strong cast.

One of those films I have been meaning to watch for a long time. I didn't start watching it until late one night and became so engrossed I didn't finish watching it until the early hours of the morning. I was left pretty speechless and its certainly a potent reminder to society. I would thoroughly recommend watching it.

'The DeerHunter'...One of the best films of all time! I must have watched it at least a dozen times over the years.

I watched The Deer Hunter this afternoon on BBC2 iPlayer all 3hours of it.
I didn't think it was a film to watch and go to bed on on Saturday night!
It just gets to me every time I watch it and hours later I can't stop thinking about it.
If you haven't seen it, do watch it!....It demands patience in the begining but stick with it..
