Hi Sahwn, this afternoon (in Italy) i tryed to downgrade HU_NBT and JBBF as i tell you in PM.
These two ecus are related to ZGW2 ecu, so i program this one also. I read and apply carefully the guide you sent me and the result is that i was able to program ZGW2 ecu but not HU_NBT and JBBF. When I start TAL programming, after 3 seconds this error appears: TAL execution started. VCM Update: VCM-Update is deactivated. VCM will not be updated. [C197] Fatal error while executing tal! [] - [Exception - UNKNOWN] FA must not be null when trying to execute a TAL containing coding transactions Asynchrone programming failed! [C049] FA must not be null when trying to execute a TAL containing coding transactions [1358] I presume that ZGW2 ecu is not affected by v55 i-step, so the cafdata files and others files on 54.1 are the same on the ecu. Some ideas? I take a picture of the screen just before to start programming ecus, you can see red and green cafdata files on the ecus expanded FA tree....could help? Thx |

Ok Shawn, i uncheck the cdDeply flag and ecus have flashed (JBBF, HU_NBT and ZGW2).
But now, the cafd data showed on FA tree is missing from HU-NBT and JBBF!!!!!!!! AAARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! When i read the FA and read SVT to code the ecus, i cant'find cafdata row from the programmed (downgraded) ecus, but cafdata rows is still present from the other ecus...... Any idea? Thanks a lot....if i reach to finisch the downgrade i write you a guide to help each other! |

First of all I want to thank ShawnSheridan for his kindness, availability and professionalism, without him I would be lost in nothingness
I own a 520d Luxury (LCi end 2013), recently upgraded with new trimmed I-Step (V.55 cafdata). So, i decide to downgrade the firmware of some ecus (the only ones i want to code) to v54 (previous I-Step). CAS module, HU_NBT module and JBBF module are the ones i want to code. I use the guide to flash firmware, paying attention to dependencies, and i see that to downgrade the CAS module i have to downgrade almost all ecus..... So i decide to downgrade only HU-NBT and JBBF that have only dependance with ZGW2. I flash ZGW2 before the other ones as suggested. When i try to flash HU-NBT and JBBF an erorr occurred because i check the cdDeploy flag when starting the TAL coding. When a downgrade from trimmed cafd files has performed, the flag of cdDeply must be unchecked. The flash was succesful, HU_NBT, JBBF and ZGW2 are running v54 while all others ecus are running v55 and the car is perfect. But when i try to code these ecus I discovered that cafd rows are missing in both ecus (opening and activate FA, read SVT and expand ecus tree). Again, thanks to Shawn, i manually inject the cafd files and code it into the ecu, and finally i was able to code! This is the porcedure to manually injecting cafd file where missing: Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Left-Click on desired ECU => Click on "Detect CAF for SWE" => Select the CAFD from latest I-Level shown => Select OK => Right-Click on ECU (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE. Finally, i can testify that is possible to downgrade only interested ecus to a codable I-Step version (V.54) and whole car and ecus work correctly. |

I also wanted to thank you Shawn for helping me out the other day when I managed to delete my DME ecu.
You are truly an invaluable asset to all of us. We'd be lost without you. Thanks again |
