Is it possible to retrofit LDW (lane departure warning) if you have FLA (high beam assist) camera (the one bulit in rear view mirror) and not KAFAS camera (the one behind windshield)?
I already have steering wheel with vibro motor inside.
I heard it can be done with KAFAS camera and module, but that is not an option as I am not willing to change my windshiled just for this retrofit.

So I am asking if it can be done with FLA camera.

I can confirm 100% it is not possible with FLA camera. KAFAS is needed. 👍

Hi everyone, after some help if possible.
I have a F31 320d European.
the car came with standard halogen lights and KAFAS2 camera for road signs detection.
Some time ago I retrofit xenon headlights and high beam assist.
Now I got a new pair of adaptive xenons 524.
Basically I didn't change any wires, just out with the old and in with the new. I coded out FEM with the new FA (524).
The headlights are now bending on the road, they move when steering left and right, the only issue is with high beam assist, is working as the regular xenons, they are not making the tunneling to avoid other drivers.
Do I need to code anything else beside ICM, KAFAS2 and FEM?
Road clear, somebody coming from the front, both headlights are switching high beam off. Any reason? Tested it in so many circumstances, everytime both headlights are turning themselves off of high beam. I have the option 5AC, and not 5AP nor 8S4.
Please please help.

Its Homelink + FLA + auto dimming for europe with this same handle like F3x

Like everyone know auto dimming mirror from f3x its this same like in f10 LCI, but with FLA and homelink its have different oem numbers (F3x europe didnt have homelink mirrors - only this retrofited like Gxx one)

Everything work perfect - dimming, fla, homelink, but i have one problem. When i lock the car my cluster is lighting - its normal, but after some second its going to sleep, and back lighting again. After 5-6 times of it it go sleep normal. Ofc i coded kombi, fla, fem with all options, but its someting wrong.

any idea?

Hi there everyone, just wanted to share my knowledge as I've now done a few retrofits to my F20, which is the same platform essentially as the F30.

Just wanted to also thank the creator of the retrofit guide as that made things easier for me

High Beam Assist (HBA), DOES WORK with halogens, not just xenon's.
Lemme elaborate

HBA only comes with xenons as we know in a package. My car came equipped with halogen headlights, but I found a F20 that was being broken that had Xenon's and HBA (the FLA camera). I ended up getting both of those, and waited to fit the Xenons as I wanted a to take my time with doing so as that retrofit is longer to do. So I decided to retrofit the FLA camera as it was a quick retrofit and VO code it and see if it would work with halogens. Went on a night drive on a quiet country road and low and behold, the high beams came on. I'll be honest I was surprised as everything I read online was that HBA only works with Xenons as they come together.

So if anyone has halogen headlights and wants to retrofit HBA, it can be done
However now that I have also retrofitted the xenon headlights, I can tell you that halogen headlights are dogsh*t. Xenons are miles better and the difference is night and day. Car looks nicer, and Xenons are simply a game changer at night. I also have the adaptive Xenons so watching the lights move left and right is nice to see.

(This next part is only for people who retrofit the auto dimming mirror if their car did not come with it, as mine came with the manual dimming mirror)
Powering the mirror from KL15 from the rain sensor causes issues, as the mirror/FLA camera requires KL30, which is a constant supply whereas KL15 is only activated by the ignition. This causes the car to not go to sleep once it's turned off, causing some issues. I posted about this on another post on this forum.

TL;DR, HBA assist works with halogen headlights, but is worth it more if you have Xenons
The mirror/FLA camera wired to the rain sensor for power causes some issues if your car doesn't come with the auto dimming mirror as standard

Hi everyone. I know this is an old post but I came across this and decided to get hba too. I have the xenon headlights and bought fla camera and hba stalk. I've got it all wired up and then got into the coding (which I'm not very good at) but have found myself stuck. I added 5ac to the FA. When I go to create cafd file, I checked my car's I step level and confirmed it to be F020-17-07-504. My issue is when I open the caf selection list, my i-step level doesn't come up on the list. The last one on the list is F020-17-03-509. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks 😊

Hi, do you have any solution on how to automatically activate HBA on BMW F36 MY 2015?
I have FLA only. It is retrofitted. I would also appreciate any recommendation regarding HBA timeout. Can be somehow coded? It seems that switching ON/OFF takes 1,5 seconds.
Subjectively it was faster on the previous car where HBA was from the factory. Thank you

My car is a ‘14 F30 and came from factory with steering heating and driving assist, so I have the KAFAS camera. Do I need to get my switchgear from a car that came with steering wheel heating.. or?

You will need change steering column. Write your full VIN I can check for you

You will need this steering column 5AC in VO and VO coding KOMBI,KAFAS,NBT,FEM_BODY.
Maybe you will need to change headlight housings but not sure because your car are from US or add 5AP in VO

I retrofit and code per instructions. For some reason the car doesnt like the steering column switch I installed ....146. Both stalks left or right not working.

I did. code FEM, KOMBI, Head unit and FLA.
actually check on FEM the SZL type and was correct : SZL_aic_4band_fla (heated wheels, high beam assist and rain sensor).
On F30 SZL is not a separate ECU so it wont show on Esys meaning there is not specific coding for SZL.

I end up replacing the steering column I got and fixed the issue. Was a bad SZL I got for the retrofit. Just need to wait to test it during the night.
