THAT e90 looks great.
F30 looks nice overall in stock trim. It has the same squarish face dimensions like the F10 5er (my neighbour parks next to me every day so I can compare well). I think E90 has that rounded off bonnet to wings look which I really like about it. Overall, looking forward to F3x Touring to make it my next car but that won't be in even a year. So E90 is fine for now. I like it.

e90<f30< e90 lci
f30 doesn't have the stance of the e90! from profile it just doesn't look good at all. it;s kind of mixed feelings-from some angles looks fine , from other it just doesn't |

I don't think comparing the e90 LCI to the new f30 is the right way to do it.
Pre-LCI is better as that is how the car looked when originally released. I almost guarantee that in 3 years when they LCI the f30 that they get rid of that awful horizontal line where the hood meets the nose. Instead I wager they will bring the hood down to meet the grilles. I said it before and I'll say it again - the f30 is dull and not a looker.

As dull as the E36 when it first came out ?
because right now, 20 years later, the E36 looks great, even better than some of the 2012 cars! Actually, i have a much better appreciation for the E36 now than when it first came out ...

I've always thought the E90 Sedan was MUCH better looking than the E92 Coupe.....which basically looks like a Honda Civic in 328/335 form......
but the F30 looks really poor in this comparison pics.....it makes the E90 look like a superstar......BMW: heading downhill fast. |

I think the f30 looks better in person, but I still prefer the 39x so far. Like the wheels and trunk better on the F though. The F3x msport may tip the scales for me.

Like it, but prefer my E90 as its more squat. Taller makes it a mommy car. Do like the front end:-) but fog lights r a bit bling as are the Audi and Merced of late.

I still think the LCI E90 looks good, I'm not feeling the front end of the F30 but i'll reserve my judgement until I see it in person. |

The headlights on the LCI E90 look so much better than the F30. Almost like they were designed after the F30. Tail lights are a wash, as they look identical except for the shape.

The e36 IMO ALWAYS looked good (always has, always will) especially in M-tech form. I loved the e90 LCI when first released but headlights aside I can take or leave the bonnet/hood, rear tail lights and the other minor differences they made (this is coming from someone who has both LCI and pre LCI in his household!) For me any BMW is at it's most purest BEFORE they have given it a mid life cycle facelift as that was how the designers ORIGINALLY intended it. Facelifts are just a refresh to make up for design updates, to keep up with the Jones' (rivals) and an excuse to market the same car with some new features. Again I say it is right to compare the original e90 (not LCI) with the new car in the same way I think it's prudent to line up original 3 series when showing their ancenstry and heritage. Am I making sense? I hope so Back to the F30 - for me they have made a pigs ear of the design (as we say in England). I hope it grows on us I really do but somehow I don't think it will. I'm sure that one day I will own one purely because I will want something newer but I will always say the e90 looked better (the same way I say the e36 looks better than the e90!) Quote:

The profile is the WORST part of it. I'm sure an M variant with some nice wheels will probably address some of the looks issues. However, as they say, 'you can't polish a turd......'

What a horrendous looking front bumper on the F30.
I so dislike the C-class side mirrors, very subpar comparing to the side mirrors of the pre-lci e90. & what's going on with the tiny exhaust tips? They're about the size of the civic's! F30 LCI next please!
