Glad you got it fixed! I had the same thing happen after replacing the motor mounts. It can be a little tricky to get the dipstick tube reseated properly, there's a lot of stuff in the way in that area. It can still be bolted up even if it's not inserted right. It takes quite a bit of leaking before it drips though the bottom protective plate and becomes noticeable, Made quite a mess.

I went with Corteco mounts from FCP Euro. I think they were like $100 for the pair. I've had good luck with FCP, and everything carries their lifetime warranty. Haven't had any issues thus far.

kdog_x - Interesting. Can't seem to find the Corteco mounts there any longer. Looks like it would have been Corteco 49393205, but they don't have them listed.

Actually I guess the brand was Vibracoustic. It does say corteco in the title, thought that was the brand. $86 for the mounts and came with new bolts/nuts. The BMW brand is available on FCP as well, though it's $300 for the pair.

I changed them out around 180k. I swapped all the control arms / bushings on the front at 160k, and shocks not long before that, but it still had a bit of vibration. The mounts did resolve that issue.
That was a rough couple months. the blower motor went out, then the rear ball joints, then the rear shocks, then finally the water pump went out at 180k. I drive a lot so I wasn't sure if i wanted to fix or sell with all the problems. Decided to keep it and to do a big overhaul and along with the pump changed the mounts, valve cover gaskets, tensioner, belt, rad hoses, coolant, trans fluid, diff fluid, and pretty much everything else I could think of for a high mileage overhaul. Coming up on the big 200 now, Hoping she makes it to 240k for the next trans fluid change before it's in the garage for anything major again. Maybe it will even see 300k 🤞 😎 |

My control arms surprising weren't completely destroyed. One was in really bad shape, but the others were ok. I replaced the whole set mainly due to mileage. It's really the way to go if you're already replacing one since you'll need an alignment. The whole set of arms wasn't prohibitively expensive.
For the rear ball joints every bump produced a metal on metal squeak. Very audible even to someone 50 feet away from the car. It drove me pretty crazy. Hard to hide even with the radio up lol. It's more of a bushing pressed into the back of the hub. It does require a specialty tool unless you have somewhere to turn down a piece of pipe. An off the shelf press kit doesn't seem to have the odd size. I made a thread back when I attempted it. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1834063 |

I just had my HFPF replaced at the dealer. A day later and I'm leaking oil. Anything they could have done during installation that would have caused this?

K, I seem to have another issue arise since getting the recall work done. I've only driven the car a couple of times because I've been out of town and it seems like I've got a vibration and rattle coming from the steering wheel and dashboard when I start up the car. It's almost like motor mounts aren't tightened down right or something. Do they even touch the motor mounts or can the cross member that I've seen removed in the videos for the HPFP replacement cause this?

Took a couple videos this morning. Seemed to start up fine. When I started backing up the vibration and ratting started becoming pronounced. Never had this issue before having the HPFP done and my confidence is low in this place after already having to take it back for the dipstick o-ring leaking oil. I've only taken the car out 3 times since that happened and every time it's had this vibration. Sent an email to the service advisor last night but no response as of today and after sending these videos.
