The S-Line is an option package, just like M Sport. No, it doesn't make more power at all. Where did you get that? From audiusa.com when building an A4: Quote:

Audi does have a whole subsection on their site thats just S cars; some would call that their S line. And then they obviously have their S line trim for some cars. But the OP did start a trollish thread that doesnt belong here... Oh and as for Jtuds comment, perhaps its because he's in Canada that he makes that comment. Their cars are configured differently than ours, well Bimmers are at least. |

Haha. I don't have s line, too expensive you can only get it on prestige trim. My life felt empty without black headliner thus my next car shall have it.lol

Yeah, I used to work for audi so let me just set the record straight.
A4 2.0T or 3.2 are base cars just like the 328 and 335. - An s-line is a "sport" package added onto one of the regular A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, or A8 models: includes wheels, body work, suspension, interior upgrades and sometimes a small power bump. (you don't call an M1, M3, and M5 the M-line; you call them M3's or M5's) This is the M-sport Package equivalent. Also; in the past this has been associated with the end of model life because the last few years of every model are almost all "s-line" cars (2011 3-series mostly had m-sport packages) but it is not only offered those years. An S3,S4,S5,S6,S7 and S8 are all referred to as separate vehicles from their "A" counterpart as they are now officially "sport" vehicles - S cars have different body, grills, drivetrain, interior, options, engine. Everything is different except for the basic design on an S4 compared to an A4. Lastly is the RS models, these are the "M" car competition. Built motors, upgraded drivetrains, more body work, etc. To finish this, BMW and Audi each chose to position themselves in different niches. Where the BMW goes 328, 335 (optional m-sport package), M3 Audi goes a4 2.0T, 3.2 (optional s-line package), S4 and then RS4.

Good explanation. Except S-line (Sport/M Sport line counterpart) never adds power bump. |

s4 has more power, 335 m sport has no more power than a regular 335. what i am trying to say is that, bmw's regular line (328 335) competes with audis """"""""""S""""""""" line (s4), its not like a 335 m sport vs a audi a4 sport, because that doesnt exist, and nothing similar to it does but the s4.

When one compares a 335i Sedan to an S4, they tend to forget that the S4 comes standard with AWD, comes standard with Real Leather, Standard with Sport Seats, and some other stuff. Although you're paying for it (with its higher priced tagged), if you spec out a 335i the same way, the price and HP similarity becomes more apparent. To be honest this thread is kinda childish. To say one car is outright better or is lacking when comparisons have them pretty close. It just depends what features every buyer wants in the end. Everyone has different wants and taste, and we go through these comparisons to make our choices. Its also not the first time they have been tested against each other. http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...omparison-test To sum it up in recent years Base Sedan Categories: A4, G25 Sedan, 328i, C250/300 Base Coupe Categories: A5, 328i, C250 ('12) Extra HP Sedan Categories: S4, G37 Sedan, 335, C350 Extra HP Coupe Categories: S5, G37 Coupe, 335i, C350 Coupe ('12) Beast Categories: RS5, M3 Coupe, C63 Coupe Keep in mind to add AWD to any of the non Audi cars...its going to cost anywhere from $2 - 3k with any dealership. Audi markets themselves differently and just makes it standard and transfers the cost to you whether u want it or not. |

1. A4 Prestige, you can only add S-line to the Prestige model. Which means the car is fully loaded. If you want an A4 Sline, you're getting a fully loaded car.
If you price an A4 Prestige Sline Manual, you're at a $47K MSRP, very similar to a 328i Xdrive M Sport Package with Technology package and Real Dakota Leather, you're over the $48K MSRP already. No backup cam, no heated seats, moonroof, permium sound system, park distance control, blind spot, and most importantly XENONS with the BMW. No lets compare the 335i XD and S4: S4 Manual Premium Plus w/ Navigation Package + Carbon Fiber Inlays $52.5K To price a comparable 335i XD to be somewhat similar to what the S4 offer u need to opt for the technology package ($3100), Premium Package ($2200), Heated Front Seats ($500), Rear Camera + Distance ($1150). ----$56.3K Now I know a lot of BMW owners would prefer the rear wheel drive of a 328i or 335i. I don't blame u. If you don't need an AWD car (geographic location), why pay extra. Which is great because you can order your car al la carte. Audi just packages everything together, a different strategy, whether you want the extra goods or not its not up to you. Budget conscious minded buyers will most likely go with a BMW. Another reason why we so many on the road (at least in Los Angeles). Like some have mentioned, in the end, the choice is YOURS. Its good to have options. Its good that we have companies competing against each other. To compare these models is not far reaching at all and its almost a must when you're shopping. Whatever you end up getting, I'm sure it was catered to the BUYER's WANTs and NEEDs. |

As are all such BMW v. Audi v. ATS ,etc. threads.
Rarely are these threads more than fanboy bashing of anything not BMW. "Anything other than what I own sucks." This is what is "cute," not Audi. The posts reveal a great deal more about the posters themselves than the cars under discussion. There have been a few posts here, however, which have nicely delineated what the various Audi lines represent or have made other rational, non-derisive observations. These have been refreshing. Kudos to these members. |

We understand, we do not necessarily agree - although decent punctuation, spelling, grammar may help.

Only thing I dont understand is when ppl are saying Audi "packages" their cars with awd. i dont see it as a package. This is standard to me and "option" is for you downgrade to a fwd. but you would be in a luxury car with fwd - a vw in an audi shell (much like a toyota camry in a lexus es shell).
So to me it doesnt make sense when someone says an audi costs more because it comes with awd vs a bmw because its only driven by the rears. Audi awd vs bmw rwd is apples to apples to me. That being said, audis are really nice cars. When shopping around i sat in an s4 loaded and damn it felt good inside and was tempted to get it. But at $64k?! Seriously. I was shocked. I am over awd cars. No more of them for me. |
