Are you with adaptive suspension? Anyone with Adaptive and Xdrive to share experience please! Looking for moderate drop on mine.

Considering lowering my 2017 440 XI because like most of you i think it sits to high. I currently have 19 x 8.5 et 30 on 235/35/19 in the front and 19 x 10.5 et 45 on 275/30/19 in the back and want to put coils on. I am thinking maybe the KW v1 or the KW street performance because i do not have adaptive and have seen good reviews here for them.
Has anyone dropped the x drive with wheels that wide in the back? Any rubbing? I just want to remove some of the gap between the wheel and the rest of the car, nothing too aggressive. |

Were the B8s too harsh?

What I’ve found through research and my own experiences is you can have good springs and good shocks that when put together ride bad. The key is to pair the correct spring rate with the right dampening to have a compliant ride. The best way to do this is order coilovers made specifically for your model car. It’s well with the extra money

I wouldn't say too harsh but typical Bilsteins. They feel great at highway speeds and normal driving. It is the small bumps and rough road surfaces you feel every bit of. For example if you drive over a quarter, I have heard people say you can tell if it is heads or tails. This seems to be a trait of Bilsteins shock/struts in general whether you have a BMW or a Jeep.
I know my car is unsafe to drive with stock Xdrive springs and height. There is no way I could go back unless I want to de-tune it. |

„Unsafe" is a bit of an exaggeration

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble deciding on what I should do. I have a 2013 328i XDrive Sportline. I was looking into getting some springs or coilovers and my requirements are that I don't want the drop to be too drastic (Canadian winters) and if I only get springs, they won't harm the stock shocks. Anyone have any input?
Thanks! |

I swapped my F32 springs for F82 M4 springs I found for $100. They are only about 20% stiffer compared to Eibach which are 50%+ stiffer, but they hardly dropped my xdrive at all. Here in CO, I have the same winter driving concerns and did not want to go lower.

Swapped std. springs for ACS and are pleased with that. Can recommend it if you wont go for coilovers.

Drop? Stiffness/comfort?

Sounds like a fairly wide rear? And how does it sit? Flush or? My current vintersetup is 9,5x19 et40 in the back with 255 tires and those are almost sitting to wide out in the wheel arches.... :-(

The drop is ok. Could be lower in the front.
Mesured from the top of the wheelarches to the ground: Before Front:23,5cm Rear: 22,5cm After Front 21cm Rear: 20cm Comfort is almost the same, bodyroll slightly less than before. Going over speedbumps, the noose still dives a bit, but less than before. In sport its planted and quite fun on the backroads. Feels quite good. But the electric steering still feels numb at the middle as it always has been. Picture before and after:

Precisely the feedback I was looking for!!
Thank you! How long have you had them for and do you know how it is with factory warranty (should something related to the suspension go bad)? How much does installation typically cost?

I had them fitted in nov and has driven aprox 12.000 km since then. Hmm good question regarding the warranty. Being ACS and fitted at the local BMW aut. servicecenter I would not expect any issues should it come to claims regarding suspension. But being in Denmark and BMW DK being known for trying to avoid paying for anything, there still could be issues. I think I payed for 2-3 hours plus a 4 wheel adjustment.
