M_Fan is completely correct. BMW and other manufacturers always build in a margin for production variances on parts and also for warranty reasons.
For those who point out jb4+ think about if the transmission fails who pays? No warranty and the loser will be you. If BMW offered the same power tune as JB and little margin and parts start failing than BMW is going to pay millions if not hundreds of millions in warranty claims or unhappy customers with failed trannys. Then we have the guys who point out marketing reasons due to the M3. If they turn up the tune on the 340 then they will have to turn up the tune on the M3 and now BMW would be close to the parts safety margin on not only the 340 but also the M3 and other cars. There is always a safety margin in which if crossed will cost BMW lots of money. JB doesn't have to consider these margins. |

This sounds absolutely ridiculous and cheap.

My emphasis is the sound and extra HP isn't justified in the price is all. I'm just saying you could obviously do better with an aftermarket set up and tune for half. The warranty only gets voided if it causes an issue with the engine as BMW has to prove it. It's definitely a trade off for sure. Heck the PE sounds much better than this for less. But at least BMW is the best company imo and is on the cutting edge with new products and candy for us.

I've considered jb4 + awe/midpipe option but jb4 is highly illegal here in California and most dealers won't even sell/install it.
Also the reliability of the jb4 hasn't been proven on b58 engines yet so it has me worried. MPPSK might be relatively costly but not having to worry about voiding warranty is definitely worth it! Especially when purchasing extended warranty in my case |

I don't see how some are saying this is overpriced or not worth it. AWE exhaust+ midpipe & JB4 is ~$2500 and MPPSK is ~$2700 for full exhaust + ECU flash. It may not give as much power as JB4 but MPPSK has warranty coverage and is a true ECU flash so less likely to run into issues which imo would be better than the JB4 piggyback. Not to say JB4 is a bad option as I will probably add something like that later down the road but neither is this kit.

You could also have any decent shop fab a resonator delete if that's still not enough sound. There's no real need for a full exhaust on these cars (coming from a guy who has a full AWE and loves it). |

What are people being quoted.
I got $2969 with tax ($2768 w/o tax) Plus $400 for vehicle programming. So $3,369 all in. Chrome tips and dealer installed. Car delivered in May 16'. Told it was currently available, as in he can get the parts for me Monday if ordered by tomorrow. Which I asked him to do my wife's going to be so happy I'm modding her car. I think I also have a special pricing relationship with the dealer which is why I'm checking. He said margins are pretty low which is why the discount over MSRP isn't more. What are people hearing from dealers on availability for dealership install, not PIA? My dealer just told me backordered until July 2017??????? Wtf that can't be right. . . ..
Edit: talked to another local dealer's parts department and they said there are 86 in stock across the country and they can have it here in two days. I guess my dealer just doesn't want to make any dough today. . . . . . Last edited by Big Nodge; 09-14-2016 at 04:21 PM.. |

Sounds like the xDrive compatible kit isn't available yet.
and my guy is quoting me $3318 for carbon fiber tips, BUT this doesn't include installation. This is getting expensive.

Here's what he gave me:
That part number if for the 2 wheel drive version. $2,810 - All Wheel Drive version has P/N 11-12-2-444-531 $256 - Chrome tips P/N 18-30-2-354-364 $508 – Tailpipe end cover P/N 18-30-2-354-364 Says after all is said and done, it will be close to $4,000. That seems steep for this upgrade.
