That's ok... I may be able to get the P/N.
The P/N of the driver's side harness w/light package is 61 12 9 313 629. That is the P/N in my CA-equipped 320i. I bet that it is the same harness P/N in your car. There is no other P/N for the driver's door regardless of CA. I think that the CA-handle wiring is in there, most probably wrapped/taped into the main harness. The missing wires should be from the FEM to the mating connector of the door harness at the door frame. The trick is still finding the schematic of the CA-latch pins. With that schematic we can trace the wires back to the door harness connector pins and then to the FEM. |

f30GTR - in case you didn't notice, you are the official driver of this thread now (328fresh sorta disappeared on us) we are all hanging on what you are doing as you seem to be the one willing to pioneer this thing and blaze the trail for the rest of us. We are all here to provide you the info you need to show the rest of us if this is even possible. But you already knew that ... you are IN CHARGE

I did order the harness for the driver's door so we will wait and see what it comes with. Maybe BMW has only 1 replacement harness with all wires for everything but at factory only install the necessary harness? |

Just wanted to verify this and double checked the connector to the internal antenna and it is 3 pin connector although it uses only 2 wires. I think the part # is 61138377072. Although this looks correct from all the pictures here is the issue that I see. The external antennas look identical to the internal with just different part number so they all take this 3 pin connector. The reason for the external antennas having a different part number is because they are waterproof. The kicker here is that the 3 pin shown from RealOEM clearly states "Plug terminal ELO not waterproof". It might seem I am getting ahead of myself, but i just want to figure out everything before I even begin to order the parts. Worse comes to worse I can use hot glue to plug the connector or relocate the external antenna on inside of the car and test to see if it works through all the metal.

Let me check that harness P/N -313-624 when I get back home. I thought that the selection was either -629 or -627 (with or without Light Package).

No P/N 61 12 9 313 624 is shown on the ETK.
Have you tried coding SA322 in your VO to see if a missing parts error is triggered? I mean, rather than spending quite an amount of money and effort to discover a major coding error would be kind of useless. |

Thanks Technic. That is a good idea I will give it a try tomorrow. I just need to figure out how to run diagnostics with Rheingold. It can't be that hard.

Interesting find. I was hoping Technic was right in that we all had CA-capable harnesses in our cars. Looks like we'll need to get this 61129313629 harness although i'm pretty sure i don't have the light package for my car. Odd that your cable doesn't show up in any of the online databases ANYWHERE. The other partnumber from RealOEM that seems to fit the bill is 61129313645 although it clearly shows that its only for the passenger side (maybe this is a mistake??). What makes a cable different for driver vs passenger side anyways? Also, nice discovery on the external connector! I'll continue to update the parts list in my previous post as you continue to forge the path and find out what works and what doesn't work. Keep up the great work f30GTR! I was just curious.. that black connector you took a pic of a few posts ago that has the missing 23 and 24 wires - where is that located? Is that somewhere in the door? I was always wondering what that 23 and 24 meant in the wiring schematics. They just seem to appear out of nowhere... I mean they aren't a part of the A173*3B FEM connector and they aren't a part of the door handle. They are somewhere "in the middle" I've always had this lingering TODO list of things I needed to finish and one of them was to refit the drivers side door to be a little more solid after installing my Bavsound speaker upgrade a few months ago. This might be a good opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. |

Ok, after reading some of the documents in Rheingold I've concluded that the remote control receiver is required in order for CA to function. After reading some of the troubleshooting of CA according to BMW if the remote control receiver stops working you will not be able to lock/unlock/start the car. So I will hold on adding the VO to my car. Essentially how this whole thing works is the remote control receiver is the key to authenticating your key to the car and the antennas are there to amplify the signal. So essentially the antennas boost the range so the remote control receiver can read the key. The questions here, is the remote control receiver only part of CA or is part convenience access which is part of the push start/stop button (standard on f30). I would like to venture into remove the cover on the back to see if this receiver is there first.

Yay, the remote control receiver is present and connected. So that receiver is standard on all cars most likely because it is needed for the convenience access. I this point I will scan my car for any outstanding codes and note them and I can VO CA and scan again.
I wanted to remove the whole back cover but it was pain in the ass as it seemed that i had to remove the pillar covers. I just ended up removing the plastic covers for the baby seat restrains and peaking under the cover. |

The original errors that FEM had look to be from me disconnecting the harness from the door. They cleared fine. As far the current fault it might be due to my glove compartment light not working which i noticed last night. The fix that Rheingold provides is to check encoding in FEM and replace the headlight switch... weird. Fault might be also because of my LEDs for my turn signal up front and back. I don't know. Not concerned much right now. |
