Tried 6NS but made no difference. I'll check the CMB_MEDIA ECU later on (forgot to look). Do I need to do anything else to enable the new confi?I have tried deleting the phone and reconnecting already. |

BT Streaming (called Audio in the configuration screen) is NOT enabled by default as far as I remember. You will know if it's enabled in the list of paired phones list, the right hand icon (a Music note) should be white, not gray. |

I've tested that the bluetooth audio on the phone works by pairing with a bluetooth speaker at home. I don't see any mention of audio in connections/bluetooth/options/configure device. I've also tried a couple of phones and none of them results in a note symbol, either greyed out or white in the bluetooth settings. |

OK, had another look at this.
Still no bluetooth audio, but this is a screenshot of the FA, SVT & I-step info. I'm using ESYS 3.23.4 & v.50.4_PSdZData. Anything obvious?? Thanks. |

Good question and as I'm still feeling my way with this I'm not sure.
Following the instructions , the last steps were: 1/ VCM. Load the edited FA file. 2/ Calculate FP. 3/ Click VCM master tab and write FA FP 4/ Read FA FP to check FA has been saved to car. No errors were reported. Mind you it didn't explicitly say it was successful either! After this I just disconnect from the car. Thanks for your help with this - it's very much appreciated. |

From Shawns instructions: Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Right-Click on HU_NBT (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE. That will program the NBT based on the new VO. |

OK Frogman, thanks to your help I'm getting further.
After checking that FA still has 6NS in the edited file I go through Shawns instructions. When I press "code" on the NBT ECU it goes through the update and NBT seems to reboot and I get a message saying its all completed. Unfortunately when I try my phone I still don't see any bluetooth audio!! So a couple of questions. 1/ When the update is running I get a box that opens and tracks the progress. I can't copy the contents so I could paste it here. Is it stored as a text file somewhere? Update: Found it under Logs :-( 2/ When I "code" the NBT ECU do I select the top folder rather than the file above the CAFD? 3/ Are the changes immediate? Some of the other posts seem to say wait a while before changes take effect. Thanks again. Last edited by NitramA; 11-08-2013 at 09:22 AM.. Reason: RTFM moment |

2. Shawns' instructions indicate that you right click the HU_NBT line, but I think it's also ok to click the CAFD line and select "Code". The NBT is being rebooted, so it sounds like the operation is working. 3. It should be immediate. Does the Audio option show up on the BT configuration screen? Have you tried re-pairing the phone? Now that you are actually VO coding the NBT, have you tried changing 6NS to 6NK (as you originally did) and VO coding that? I think we've seen that depending on the build date or geography, the NBT needs either 6NK or 6NS to enable enhanced BT. I'll try to post some pics of the screens I'm talking about later today. |

More progress!!!
I tried loading the 6NK code as suggested but I got a failure when I tried to code the ECU. Interestingly the FA didn't give an error when I verified it. Rather than leave it like that I re ran the FA with 6NS. For whatever reason this time it seemed to work! I can now see the bluetooth audio along with the Office tick box. Shame I still can't play music from my phone though. I can see a greyed out Note icon in my phone settings so I'm sure it's now just a case of configuration. Nearly there!!!! |

1. In the configure Bluetooth screen for the car, make sure the "Bluetooth(R) audio line is checked. 2. In the configure phone screen, make sure the "Audio" line is checked. That should enable it. |

Bumping an old thread.
Can someone tell me if Enhanced Bluetooth as shown here is required to enable Bluetooth MAP? Is that what the "Office" option is under the Bluetooth settings? I am trying to get Mail working in my brand new F30 Sedan, and it doesn't work on any device I try. I am now assuming this is because it was not ordered with Enhanced BT. Can anyone confirm? |

hopefully this weekend I should be getting my cable to code and will be doing this, any pointers on what exactly I need to download? I am running win8 64 bit and will be using a obd to ethernet adapter that will be pluged into a ethernet to usb adapter(laptop doesn't have an ethernet port).

I want to enable this function on my new F15 (X5) which has the 2014 Prof Nav head unit.
A few questions (which I assume are same answer for F30)..... 1. Someone at BMW told me that if I code the car, if they ever perform a software update it will crash the system as the car spec won't match their system- is this true? I am not adding any components - just turning on a function!.... and if the worst was to happen, would this kill my car? 2. Does this void my warranty (if so I would be very reluctant to do!) 3. If I purchase the cable/software and am only making the change described above - is there anything likely to go wrong? and can these things be changed back if a problem? Also - does anyone know if E-Sys will work with F15, and do I need a specific version?? Thanks! |

2) No. 3) Yes, things can go wrong, but the odds are low, and usually it it happens it is minor and fixable. F15 is no different than any other Fxx. Code it with E-Sys using F25 as the Target.
