I get the drift and the put down of the OP as a 2 litre driver. That 'bigger is better' mentality is alive and well on this forum....so what I said before still stands. |

Wow, this is pure comedy.
An F3X is a repmobile/family car. Ok, they handle better than most and all variants have a relatively decent turn of pace. Though, some are more powerful and have the potential to be faster... Then some people personalise their cars, so they stand out. Others do their best to net make their cars stand out. I love my car. Though, I'm in the dull as dishwater family wagon camp. But, that also means I'm a Q car to some extent. Grey car de-badged, side M's and rear engine badge gone. So, I'm a 318 to most folk. This suits me just fine. However, an ever increasing number of folk on this forum are modifying their cars. The F3X is around 5 years old now, and as such accessible by a different demographic of drivers. Some even chose to "pay homage" to other variants by copying signature differences such as exhausts, grilles, door mirrors etc. When I was in my 20's I'd have loved to be able to afford a fast 3 Series. However, I was driving a 60hp 1.2 Clio, then a 130hp 2.0 Focus. I got my attention grabbing and modifying out of my system then... Now I can afford the car I wanted back then, I'm very happy to just blend in most of the time. I remember thinking, when I was young, that fast cars were wasted on old codgers who don't use them. It follows on that my 340i is slower than my 1.2 Clio, most of the time... But, it's nice to have it to play with on occasion. So, a youth in a 320i/d will most likely out pace me much of the time. I've loved and been proud of every car I've ever owned. Though, I look back on some cars I and my mates had as youths and cringe. Folk need to get over themselves sometimes. Some folk like subtlety and Q cars, and others like to be the peacock and modify their car. We've all been stuck behind a highly modified 1.2 Corsa struggling to overtake uphill... But, I bet the driver loves and is proud of their car.

Apparently, I have gone quiet.
No I just don't need to keep checking the forum to reply to some jumped-up old man. Hope you all had a good Sunday. I did |

Good grief.
I enjoy visiting this forum. This shit puts me off a bit though. Drek is Drek. Like him or otherwise, I doubt he cares. Caz isn't the first person who has had their nose put out of joint. Caz - you've been a good addition to this community. Your enthusiasm is something else. Your post about the case was a bit unnecessary, and Drek's response was exactly what you'd expect from him, I'm sure he intended to hit a nerve, but you can't go off the deep end every time someone pokes you. I agree there is a bit of 6 cylinder or nothing on here sometimes (often), which to a degree is to be expected given the type of people that are attracted to a forum. Don't think this is an example of that though, Drek just knew how to push your buttons and he got what he hoped for. Live and learn. You love your car, you don't mod it for Drek's enjoyment so don't let him push your buttons. |

We all get a little stir crazy in here at times, some time away does wonders. That said I've not read any further into the thread or can't comment on 3L v 2L usual spats. Mostly these are tongue in cheek, but I'm sure some people do actually mean it. Anway, lets all just be car loving buddies. No offence meant to you Caz or not calling you out....but reading 'Keycasegate' thread...it did feel you fired the first shot. .....and my car has 3Litres, 3 Turbos, 2.5 Tonnes, 4x4xAWDrivexXdrivexSnowdrive & 7 seats. Boom! |

Out of interest does a G30 2.0 beat a F30 3.0? If this car doesn't work out well which my last car didn't i'm going to just get a shit tip, at least then I don't have to clean it or worry about where I park it! |

But hey I love my car, I do what I like and I also say it how it is. The forum needs a guy to do all these mods right so we can keep the trend of empty wallets alive!? |

I don't look at the forum all day and I miss a storm in a tea cup.
Having read all this shit I'd say Drek wasn't having a pop at 2 litre cars, more a dig at the irony of someone who has just about bought everything they can for their car already, some of which others would have said is either dubious in taste, or overkill, commenting that some other BMW accessory is rubbish. It's a reasonable opinion/comment and I'm surprised that I've not had the same said to me about my car and my endless mods. Im sure a psychoanalyst would have an interesting take on endlessly modifying a car beyond what's reasonably sensible... It's an Internet forum though, and opinions are expressed, many of which we will disagree with, and some which can be taken personally, but this was blown out of all proportion. And boy has it gone a bit schoolground though.
