Hello everyopne.
I recently swaped my steering wheel ("big airbag enclosure" with the grey lower lip) for one with the CC buttons, which I did not have (and paddle shifters). I noticed that it has the heater controler and such, which was just a matter of luck. I bought the plastic under cover and the button, and I coded the function in. However, it's not working. I suspect the problem is in the switch unit steering column. Being the not very focused kind of guy, I forgot to just take a look and check the part number, when I had everything disassembled. Today I found a switch unit steering column with high beam assist, which was another thing that I was looking for. So, I'd just like to know if someone can tell me if this unit will work with the steering wheel heater function, as the ones mentioned in the first post. The PN is 61319351153. This would solve both my "problems" (steering wheel heater, and high beam assistant). The shop selling it shows it as a used F31 part, which is the chassis that I have. Thank you very much for your time and help. |

Is there anyone in Essex UK area who can help me with this refrofit? I have most of the parts already just waiting on the switch.
Also is it dangerous to take the power from the airbag? Could that not make the airbag set off / explode??? |

You're not taking the power from the airbag, you are just using spare sockets on the airbag connector to give you a means of connecting through the wheel centre(clock spring).
Besides, the airbag has no power. The only time any voltage is applied to the airbag is when the crash systems want to trigger it. |
