I'm in Canada and wonder if it will cost beyond the item being sold individually! Each unit weighs 3kg |

I don't know why they declare 3kg, but the unit itself probably barely weighs 200g.
If you get in contact, maybe you guys could ask them for firmware updates and/or even the source ^^ I noticed today that the unit instantly powers on when the car is being unlocked with the remote key fob (exactly how the original HU does it). So when I was ready to drive it was already booted, my phone automatically connected and the popup to start wireless AA was already displayed. So the process is basically as follows: Press start/stop button, hold 3sec 'Menu' key to switch to the unit, confirm the popup, AA starts instantly. My phone was in my pocket the whole time and I did not use it at all. |

Does wireless AA only work with Android 9.0 or higher? |

They got back to me and if we order 10 of the units it's $145 plus $30 for shipping of each item. So that's about $64 savings. On Ali it's $239 with free shipping.

I don't think HUD will integrate with CarPlay or Android Auto since it's that way with even OEM ones. That being said, I'm curious if this specific one does it but I'm leaning toward not really.

Officially yes, and only with all Pixel, some Samsung and the last Nexus devices. But maybe there is a way to get it to work unofficially. |

Wired I think works on earlier versions. For wireless AA I believe so yes. Some phones support it as standard, namely Google ones. Other phones you need to be on Android 9.0 and enable it in developer options, it's hit and miss from what I've heard. There are guides if you Google it. I'm hoping for the best.

Yes, I tried (on Android Auto).
The steering wheel scroll wheel (?) acts the same as the iDrive controller, i.e. UP/DOWN scroll means UP/DOWN direction and pressing the wheel is Enter. Interestingly enough only pressing it triggers the cluster warning 'Control not supported in AUX mode', scrolling does not trigger the warning. Maybe they will patch that in a future update as well. The warning is quite annoying (and useless). The CD/DVD player arrow keys (NEXT/PREV) next to the favorite buttons on the center console are not supported. You seem to be in direct contact with them. What is your impression? Are they just resellers or the actual manufacturer? In any case, could you ask them for the possibility of software updates? Or even more specific to improve the actual resolution of Android Auto and to enable the widescreen/splitscreen. Thanks! |

I assume you can have skip tracks from steering wheel positioning on next track button and then pressing... But I think this mean no skip tracks from steering wheel when in navigation mode. Correct?

The focus/selection will stay so you can press multiple times to skip songs. Quote:
By default media controls are shown in the black bar at the bottom. So if your current focus is on there, it is possible to skip in the same manor as above. But if your focus is within the navigation app, you first have to escape from there by pressing 'Back' once or tilt down on the iDrive controller. |

I can ask them but I asked about the HUD and they said it's on their roadmap. This tells me they are at least in control of the software even if they don't make the hardware. Anyone here know the forum rules for organizing a group buy? I'm happy to orginaize it, just don't know where to start. |
