I used to work in Germany and frequently drove various BMW diesels and the midline cars that were much more efficient, available with manuals and still able to hit 250 on the Autobahn were what made the most sense. So far they aren't offering the 335d for the ROW, the 330d being the largest diesel, and the brilliant N47, of which there are various versions, including the one in the 525d that would be great in a US diesel. I worked in Frankfurt from 2003-2007 and would have gladly bought a good diesel from the moment I returned. No one has offered a good choice in the US (VW continues to use a timing belt and requires a 40k mile belt change) and BMW continues to make bad decisions like the 335d and the Hybrid. Audi keeps threatening to offer diesels in each US model, including the A4, maybe they'll get it right. |

2011 e90 328i MSRP = $34,600
2012 f30 328i MSRP = $34,900 2011 e90 335i MSRP = $42,050 2012 f30 335i MSRP = $42,400 Granted the the 13's are more due to the inlusion of more standard features, but the initial e90 to f30 increase was minimal... definitely worth the extra $300 |

+1. Having configured the car the way I want I cant believe it but I am seriously beginning to question if the Audi A6 is not a better value proposition at my price point of approx $52 grand . While I know the drives are night and day, you cant beat the options Audi is throwing in at the price.

Just checked w/ head office in Canada - new iDrive is definitely (100%) not going to be released on MY2013 F30s other than AH3. BMW (as w/ most smart organizations) hold off on rolling out new-news all at once. This way they can maintain steady customer interest (as sales would slowly die off if they launched w/ all models and options in year 1 - ie. launch base F30, M Sport, M3, Coupe, Wagon, new iDrive, 335M, 335is, 340i, etc). What would sales figures look like for the next 5 years of the products lifecycle? This way there is constant flow of new enhancements and value add being funnelled into the marketing engine.
I personally would like to get the most bang for my buck and get a model early in its lifecycle (year 1 is usually buggy, but year 2 most bugs worked out) and your car still looks like the new 2017 model 5 years from now)... as opposed to buying the decked out, fully updated, fastest version of a soon to be obsolete model the year before the new gen version is launched. Also confirmed that M Sport Suspension and M Sport Adaptive Suspension are both droped by the same height - 10mm (as we suspected)...

The A6 2.0T will of course be slower, but it's also a better car in many other areas. The A6 is also supposed to be sportier than the 5er. My E90 328i is very lightly equipped M-sport model. If I build a F30 M-sport with similar option content, it comes out to be ~$4K more. Of course the F30 has some of the things that my 328i is missing, most notably iDrive and basic Bluetooth. But still, it seems you do pay quite a bit for the extra interior room + improved power and efficiency. |

A little confused...getting navigation as a standalone option on bmwconfig.com allows me to just pay for Navigation, and enhanced bluetooth/USB comes with it at no extra charge. The BMWUSA site is trying to force me to get the Enhanced Bluetooth/USB for $650 which I wouldn't want to pay extra for. Does anyone know if you have to pay for Enhanced Bluetooth/USB if you just want Nav as a standalone option?

Adaptive M suspension allows you to choose different levels of suspension stiffness in the different modes (Comfort, Normal, Sport) and I think it is adaptive within those modes like the E9x M3's EDC but I'm not entirely sure. |

Of course. But it's best to look at 335 as an option, like everything else, instead of as a different car. If $$ is the issue your can make better trade offs than downsizing to a 328...
