So now you're going to keep your 540 and drive it in the winter?

You know, that's what we all end up doing...again. I just believe that's how it is.

It doesn't make sense to me sometimes. I think I spoil myself. If I end up buying the Camry, I feel like I'm not going to like driving it since I am so used to driving the 540 (and the 328 I had) that the Camry is going to feel like garbage and I'll end up regretting paying $2500 or whatever for it

For me the opposite effect happens. Driving a crappy car makes me appreciate my own car even more.

What I’m saying is it’s a different animal when it’s a car you own and have to pay for and drive everyday…

Driving a crappy car temporarily gives you appreciation for the nicer cars you have.
Driving a crappy car permanently is a waste of life if you can afford the nicer car to begin with.
That's a good point. I've never permanently had a beater car. I do peruse used cars listings occasionally to see if there's a cheap but cool car I can pick up... but the wife thinks our third garage spot is better used for junk

My daily is a 2012 Toyota 4Runner. Gonna finish paying it off next month and I'm happy to finally get it off my books buuuuuuut... I'm debating on getting a pick up truck to support my other hobby, I just don't wanna take on another monthly payment for a while.

Yeah I Hate paying monthly for things. The 540 is my first loan I took out. Don't owe much but going to keep the loan open to build my credit up.

If I knew I was going to be buying a winter beater 7 months ago, I would've just brought a M3 after selling the 328.

I hear ya but with the snow you probably see, I'm sure it wouldn't have been an easy decision. That's what i like about my 4 runner, just put it in drive and go, where as the M3, i gotta shovel the driveway, it slides in the snow.... you made the right call lol

I think I'm going to drive the 540 this winter while it's still under warranty. If I don't mind cleaning it every week or so, I'll just continue driving it in the snow.

If it bothers me too much, I'll buy a winter beater next year.

On the West coast of Canada we don't see a lot of snow - sometimes almost none in a given winter. We do see cold weather once in awhile that has them out salting and for that reason I avoid driving the sports cars when that happens.

I put the Z4MC away for the winter and drive my Solstice GXP coupe (which is rarer than the Z4) unless we get salting weather and in that case it is the wife's Mazda that does double duty.
