I've been going back and forth on doing this on my 328i. I know it won't be the same parts but what brands did you end up going with for both the FMIC and downpipe?

I am with you on OEM. All the way. That's why I was on the path for MPPSK rather than BM3. Certainly BM3 has a huge place in the BMW culture. But I am move of a step carefully and well thought out kinda guy. And my own mind says: Would I want to buy a BM3 Tuned BMW ? Probably not lol. And therefore, I may decide to do BM3 if I still have her in another 6 years lol.

I actually REALLY like the 624's. REALLY. I have already bookmarked it on my browser and will make that move in the spring.

Quick question: What does one usually do with stock rims? I mean, I live in an apartment. I have no way to store them. I would hold them for sure, if I could - but I have no place.
If you're worried about resale then you're doing it wrong.

You can rent a small storage unit or ask a trusted friend that has space. I store my old car parts at my moms

Could always sell them. Help offset the cost of the new set. And if you're replacing with another set of BMW OEM wheels, it won't hurt you on resale. Just a thought.

Hey I wonder if anyone knows what this noise is. Happens when the engine is cold then. Sounds like some rattle with the rpm.

There is a wide range and prices for both of these items. The FMIC was a gift so I didn't really get to choose. It's Active Autowerke which is a reputable brand so I rolled with it. It's a little bigger than stock but not much so install was pretty easy. I was shocked at how heavy it is. I did a couple logs and it seems way better than stock but it's really cold in VA right now so I don't have an apples to apples comparison yet.

For the down pipe I got CTS Turbo even though I read quite a few negative reviews. I have their intake and I'm very happy with it. I decided I wasn't paying 4 figures for a downpipe. Considered going catless but I didn't want to smell it with the top down. So that narrowed my options down.

Use the search function and make the right decision for you. Mike at XPH is helpful too.

I make those noises in sport mode and I know it's probably just that the video does not do it justice - BUT . there is another post where others are kinda let down over the loudness of MPPSK. And that's what I was getting it for. Not the HP. The bangs and pops and head turning lol. But - from the many vids and some members reporting being let down - I am not sure I want to invest almost $5k for a pooh.
Why don't you reach out to someone who already has the MPPSK installed local to you so you can hear it in person? Trust me, videos won't do it justice. The MPPSK has plenty of pops, bangs, burbles and all of that.

Too early to really say. But not disappointed so far, no. Positively surprised, rather. I was afraid it was going to be too big of a change and too aggressive.

F036 Brake & Slotted Rotor upgrade

StopTech high carbon slotted rotors front & back with Hawk 5.0 pads, ECS brake lines, and a flush.
Good upgrade. You can stand on the brakes, and they don't fade. Still, I ponder the M-Sport brake upgrade. I am happy with the cost to benefit from this upgrade, but the larger brakes are so Cool.

F036 Strutbar

I wanted a strut brace. So I installed one! The benefits might be mostly mental. I'm okay with that.

F036 What's that sound?

Do you see that clip? That's attached to nothing?
Madness BMW. Madness.
This noise took me a month to find. Extreme rattle sounded like golf balls in a Blendtec blender every time I went under hard acceleration. So imagine that with the in-laws in the car on a road trip to DC.
Dropped the exhaust, slid heat shields out the way, sacrificed a wrench to fit the small crevice between the driveshaft to replace this less than an ideal clip that holds the E-brake tube.

F036 Monoball Thrust and M4 control arms

I took it upon myself to install Turner Motorsports Thrust arms and figured I should install the M4 control arms for the added camber and upgraded bushing while I was down there.
Well...
I knew the alignment would be out and planned on slow rolling to the shop or possibly getting a tow.
No way that was happening. The toe was so extreme the front wheels fought and hopped around, leaving marks on the drive. I couldn't even back out to the street.
Putting myself in the situation, I got myself out with a bit of string! And a lot of patience. Post a proper shop alignment this afternoon. The handling is much improved!

Damn that's a lot of toe
Lol
Did you use f8x thrust arms or standard f3x?
I'm still really debating this mod, I just got camber plates tho

I went standard f3x.
There was plenty of tie rod to thread out. Mind you; I had to thread out about 10mm. There was still more than 50% of the threads in the pinch point. Note the wheel does sit forward in the wheel well too. Clearance looks okay.
Curious about the f8x geometry with the F3x suspension. Happy with this so far.

Wow that's a lot of toe.

I put new Bilstein B12 kit and 1M control arms on my E82 5 or so years ago and drove it to the shop. The steering wheel instead of unwinding and resisting turning would turn in MORE as I turned the wheel while rolling forward. It was a pretty crazy drive. Insane tram lining plus the propensity to want to turn more was insane and that was only a few degrees of toe. Yours looks like well over 5 degrees.

Oh ok, so you used f80 control arms and f30 thrust arms?
I heard the f80 thrust arms don't change where the wheel sits so I was just curious how bad the castor was

I can tell you from a pure number standpoint. With a 19 inch wheel, the toe was 45mm in when taking a measurement from two outer sides of the wheel using the string as a straight reference point. Not sure how to convert that into degrees.

Yeah, spot on.
These Thurner Motorsport F3X Thurst arms which are TRW arms with Turner monoballs already installed. So DIY friend - 021440TMS01-02
And the Delphi M control arms 31122284530 & 31122284529 (RockAuto BTW!)
I don't have a castor measurement with the alignment output posted nor a good before and after pic. But running a 225/40/19 tire you can see the wheel sits forward in the picture. I will be running 255/35/19 up front on 437m wheels in the Spring. Research indicates it will fit. I'll post a rant or success when that happens.

Comparing my two alignments I picked up a near -1.0 degree of camber on each side. Turn-in is very direct. I like it. Still early days, honeymoon mod phase.
