The X-Ice Snow is a relatively new tire, so I don't think they're the ones you had experience with. Nordic winter tires have made great strides with ice traction in the last 5 years. It's fairly recent you'd even think about not using studded tires if you encountered significant amounts of ice during the winter.

Installed the 6WB digital cluster last week. Works perfectly and resolved the pet peeve I've had with the analog cluster not being back lite during the day on the F30 340i LCI. When wearing polarized sunglasses it was even more difficult. The 6WB cluster resolves this issue. The pics below shows it in comfort mode day in back lite white and night mode in orange. I won't show the different drive displays which are well covered in other threads for this cluster.

The ghosting of the gauge display only shows in the picture and not in real life.

"X-ice" is cryptic for "not suitable for ice"!
My research shows the general feeling of X Ice Snows vs Blizzak is that Blizzak is better in snow, but that its older tech that only protects the first 15,000 miles (50% of tread) after which all the winter tire material is worn off, and from then on they're no better than regular tires. In contrast, X Ice Snows are more modern in design in they are good in snow for 40,000 miles (down to 3cm of tread). Plus they're a lot quieter.

My experience (7 winters on X-Ice) is that they remain just as pathetic on ice as they are from day one.
Nearly hit a lamp post the first winter (second day of moderate icing on the road). Had similar experience almost every winter thereafter. You find out there is ice on the road as soon as the first roundabout comes and you nearly go out unintentionally somewhere between the first and second exit. And that with a FWD vehicle!

In snow, they were ok. Not great, but ok. As soon as there was some ice …. "X-ice = except for ice".

Hope you have a better experience. Just be aware so that you are not freaked out Phenomenal difference now when I finally got rid of them. No more sledge.

In goes rear control arms with new bolts.

Put it up for sale cause it’s too reliable and good looking, the OEM+ mods are done, and I’m bored and need something I can work on, not just enjoy driving 6 blocks to cars n coffee once a month or 8 blocks to drop off child at school.

We will see if anyone is interested or not.

What kind of difference do those new control arms make? I like how they look.

Turner / SPL Rear arms

Significant. It's cold outside, so that skews things. However, I feel incredibly confident in the rear this time of year and keep the foot on the pedal when the back goes without lifting off on an aggressive turn-in. Within reason, mind you.

My current build does not follow the typical journey.
Coil overs > Bushings and Arms.
Instead, arms(front and rear done), links, bushing, and coil overs over coming soon.

So Arms only is my perspective. And I love it.

installed a few carbon bits in the interior, unfortunately the weather sucks and i can't take any outdoor pics with good lighting today.

carbon fiber seat backs and a M Performance alcantara/carbon fiber sliding arm rest. CF goes really well with the saddle brown interior!

Where'd you get the seat back covers from?

Raced it …twice…because the driver clearly didn't get the hint when I was in comfort mode yet still beat him.
So in race two in sports mode he stopped trying. 🤣

taking advantage of time off for thanksgiving to install some interior mods. today I did the idrive controller swap, bought the silver button with ceramic joystick NBT evo controller from a 7 series G11. Due to ISTA not liking new idrive controller computer, it wasn't a direct swap, I actually had to take both controllers apart and swap the buttons and ceramic joystick onto my OEM unit. works flawlessly and looks and feels amazing in the end, very happy with how it came out.

it's definitely a nice upgrade, whole job didn't take too long either, was fairly simple to take apart and put back together.

Took off the black M Performance decals today. It was really easy with a heat gun. Took about 20 minutes. I forgot to take a picture of their condition, but they were all cracked looking and the white letters had browned a bit. I wonder if these decals don't like the sealants I use? It was pretty weird.

Anyway underneath the cracked decal was this in certain sections (not 100%), which is pretty shite. No idea how this pattern could've occured. Thought the sun maybe faded the cracks but then it would be like this across the whole area.

My decals are in a similar condition. I've been putting Opti-bond tire gel on it!

not sure if related but i know BMW changed vinyl vendors for the side skirt decals. the vinyl film you get now is completely different
