I emailed my service advisor to see what his prices are. I bet he comes in higher than getbmwparts so I'll ask him what his ECU install price is. I'm pretty sure I can swap the exhaust as it doesn't involve welding, right? If so, this might get us around $2850 with self exhaust install and 1-2 hour ecu quote time from getbmwparts.com. All I know is that, I'm going to call the local dyno place, get my car dyno'd before the install and then after. I'm curious what the increases really are considering what the dynos say about the B58 (clearly underrated)

I was quoted right around $3,300 before tax for parts and labor, with stainless tips. Seems steep for sure.... around 6% of the cost of the car. Does anyone remember what pricing was like for MPPK on N55 when it first came out and if it dropped at some point?

So if we are approaching $4,000 for this bump, we really need to start talking about what we can expect out of the upcoming M340. As others have said, the M3 starts looking good, but living in Colorado, I would prefer an xDrive platform.
...but I want to go faster...

If an M3 was awd, then yes but I optioned an M3 and it was $16k more, that's without the competition package which I would want, add $4k more. And I wouldnt have gotten the same discount from the dealer. Even with the $3,300 exhaust your still talking $14k or over $200 a month for 60 months.

Frustrating that there seems to be mixed info out there. Jason, any official word on if the kit that is available is compatible with the xDrives? Edit: Here is some more info, I'll leave it to the board to help interpret. When I put part # 11122444531 into realoem it comes up as superseding the part # given in the announcement at the top of this thread (11122408981). Both seem to cover RWD and xDrive iterations of the B58, but the original part number (11122408981) is listed as "11/1/15 to . . . . " while the other part number (11122444531) is listed as "12/16/15 to . . . . . " So maybe the distinction between the two is not xDrive vs. RWD but rather build date? Maybe if you have a later build date (mine is March '16) you need to use the newer part number, and that's not available yet? I am awaiting more answers but that's my best guess at this point. Still hoping it's just a mixup and the have lots of the kits ready-to-go for everyone. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...31&series=F30N Last edited by Big Nodge; 09-15-2016 at 11:32 AM.. |

Yup I did that as well. It is seeming like there is no xDrive vs. RWD distinction. But maybe a build date distinction that some dealers are confusing with a drivetrain distinction? I'm really not sure at this point.

Yeah, annoying. This makes me trust a dealer install a little less, too. I think I'll let the dust settle a bit. Definitely interested in the before/after dyno numbers, too.

Any idea what the warranty implications are if you buy the parts yourself and have them installed by a non-BMW shop?

Is this even possible? Obviously an exhaust install is no big deal but what about the software update?
