Couldn’t disagree more. OP, I sympathize. While I love the idea of driving around in that expensive car I always wanted and will never get the chance to enjoy again, I can’t get myself to spend the money. Six figures for a 911 is bananas. |

Bit the bullet and got a 997.2. Took a long time as vast, vast majority of cars are silver/grey/black.
Won't lie, a small front end collision brought this into my price range. I had the opportunity to see the original photos, look at the frame, get a copy of the invoices and speak to the shop who did the work so I was prepared to move forward if the price was right. The colour was just what I wanted, it looks fantastic in the sun as it skews more cyan, in the shade/indoors the blue shifts a bit purple. The clincher for me was the miles, just 40,000 (63,000km) which is far, far less than I was expecting to have to tolerate. I then got the car on a hoist and it became clear it was never or rarely winter driven, at about 5,000km a year it was surely winter stored given not a bolt nor bracket shows any sign of rust. Vehicle was also inspected by Porsche, needs a few small things but otherwise a clean bill of health. They did me half price on a bore scope, which TBH is not really needed on these series 2 engines but why not? Cylinder walls are pristine. Sadly the blue cars almost all come with grey not black interiors, so have to live with that but the interior is in amazing shape, even the driver bolster is not worn which is HIGHLY unusual. Button text for example, show zero wear. Steering wheel was quite ugly on these but this vehicle had it upgraded to a newer model which is MUCH nicer, it also has Sport+ that turns the car into a proper animal. These two items would cost about $3,500 to install and were changes I was planning to make so I accounted for this in the true net cost. This is a REAL TOUGH market, I did about all I could outside of spending over 6 figures for a pristine example. I may decide to throw these wheels under it as they really toughen the car up. |

Congratulations! Looks great.
Do you have a feel for how long this vehicle was listed for sale? Did you come to agreement with the seller on the first day the car came on the market? |

I called immediately. Anything not grey/silver/black is VERY hard to come by. List price was good, i figured a claim at the price it was listed but the very low miles was a big attraction to me. There's a lot of VERY tired 997s out there, i know they are pretty solid cars but lots of cars with 80,000 miles (not KM) on them.
I paid asking price and he agreed to cover the shipping cost. Again the steering wheel and Sport Chrono pack were going to set me back near $4k so felt asking was more than reasonable. |

I think the 997's were made slap over the top of the financial crisis so it was a bit uncouth to go bright? I dunno, i mean german cars = silver right? i actually like silver but man, so many silver ones. Ideally yellow but 20K premium, or white but i never saw a white one that didn't have sea blue interior or cocoa ...never black or grey. |

Congrats on the 911!
Agree on the colors - almost impossible to get a blue one. My 991 is Jet Black and is a dirt/dust magnet. The bright colors don’t sell well unfortunately to the typical 911 buyers. |

[QUOTE=Alfisti;28823872]Thanks. So you'd go the black wheels? I really like that style of wheel but just worry the blue is too dark for black wheels.
I would but I am a fan of black wheels generally. |

It doesn't! You just open the door (doesn't beep at you!!), turn the key and it's basically 400hp and 4 wheels and that's it! No touch screens, not sliders, no alarms and no surprises.

Black, red and white are generally the most popular vehicle colors across the industry. Everything else is low production volume by comparison.
