Very "interesting" video. Serves little to no purpose because I doubt it will actually affect why I'd prefer RC to a 4er. Some things to note: Are the headlamps of the RC really LED? What is that 3 projector lighting upgrade that we see on the RC-F sometimes? How is the RC interior any sportier looking than the 4? Looks are subjective and I really don't like the look of the RC interior. However, I'll hand it to the Lexus for nice soft leather. I own a IS350 and a 428 and can already tell you the engine in the BMW is a lot better. So the powertrain comparison is inaccurate. Give it to the Lexus for the adaptive suspension already coming with the F-sport rather than being an add on. However, iDrive is way more intuitive than the Lexus Enform or whatever it's called. People have complained about the mouse thing. BMW also offers the HUD and Lexus doesn't. Otherwise everything else like the exterior is subjective.
But hey if I were paid, I'd probably say the same shit. I'd use that money though for my BMW. |

She is giving the cost benefit lecture to a community where people spend a lot more to mod the 435i to look like M4

I think it really IS a value but I just can't get over the horrible design. At every glance, the front reminds me of the Predator alien's mouth. This is just a so frick' fugly, I can't overlook it and I would NEVER buy a car that looks like that. The back is also very poorly styled. WTF Lexus -- your design team needs to be fired from the top down!

BMW for the win! It is really sad that Lexus would go this low to try to knock a competitor! I mean seriously look at both of these cars I don't understand how someone can find that Lexus to be attractive.....

The way I see it is buy whichever car makes you feel good, and whichever one suits your lifestyle best!
But in the end our car choices are influenced by the people around us, as always I try to pick whichever one I like best. After seeing that video, I'd get the 435i Coupe over the RC Coupe if I had the extra $10K thank you. |

Thank you Lexus College for helping me determine that the 435i not only looks better but is worth the extra money over the RC 350...

I believe that is supposed to be a sales training video, not really an ad. If you're a Lexus salesperson, it has exactly the data you need to position the RC350 against the 4.
I plan to cross-shop the RC350 when I am in the market next, and I see nothing wrong with this video at all.

"The bmw splits commands between a touch bad and a dial, which could lead to confusion about how to do what" is that a joke or.....
Also yes of course the BMW doesn't have that Lexus G-Force technology, because its a lexus marketing term. I'm pretty sure BMW does have that anyway, except they don't market it because they don't need to market how smart the car is and how sport oriented it is.

I suppose point by point comparisons such as the one in the OP inspire some consumers who wouldn't have otherwise considered the Lexus to do so. To that end, I guess the piece does what it's supposed to do.
I don't know just what share of consumers cull their "shortlist" of cars using that sort of analysis. My gut says that most $50K car buyers shop with their eyes first, perhaps also their egos when deciding what brands they'll at least consider, and then go "try them on," letting their asses and ears make the final decision. Sure, most such consumers, particularly those buying int eh $50K-$60K range, are going to be sway-able by economic and ease of ownership considerations. I doubt many folks who in their hearts prefer the BMW would, for example choose a 435 over the Lexus for a $15K price premium, but for $5K or less, I suspect many would. I know I would not pay $15K more for the 435, but up to $5K I would still consider the BMW, and probably buy it. Then again, I am so turned off by the gaping maw on that Lexus that it'd have to be offered to me for something in the low to mid-$30Ks for me to see it as an alternative, and at such a low price, I could get over the look of the grill. Indeed, I rather like some of the other styling touches on the Lexus, but grill just ruins it for me. By the same token, I'm going to need to buy my youngest son a car come the end of this coming Summer. If he expresses a preference for the Lexus, I'd gladly buy it for him instead of a BMW similar to the ones I bought for his two older siblings. I don't mind spending less and getting what, for 99% of everything one needs to do, will be a perfectly fine car. I just won't do it to save a miniscule sum for a car I know I will drive for some 15 year or so, which is about how long I keep my daily drivers. I don't want to drive a car I think is butt ugly for that long. All the best.

the F30 3-series and 4-series are pretty disappointing cars to drive....soft and plump....but at least they look nice. unlike the Lexus which looks like a parasite.
