Granted this is all subjective. I currently own a MKV GLI that is far from stock. The car is slightly more fun to drive than my F30, but due to how raggedy it is. I love it.

I drove the MKVII GTI with the PP a while back and while I loved the car, I would not say stock for stock is more fun to drive than my loaded F30 335i.

And to say that a stiff suspension is fun or a stiff steering keeps you connected is BS. I have driven the E90 and I much prefer my F30. The only thing I hate about the F30 is the on center steering feel. VW EPS does not have that and kudos to them.
Late to the party on this but I have both an F30 335i and an Mk7 GTI with PP. The GTI has the edge over the 335i in a few areas

- LSD
- Steering feel
- Brakes
- Weight (and thus, tossability)
- Tuning potential

The 335i wins in some areas too

- RWD
- Premium feel
- Tech
- Inline 6 sound
- Lower seating position

They're both about as quick as each other (6MT 335i, DSG GTI). If I had to pick one car to keep, it would be the GTI. I don't think there's a better bang for the buck car out there ATM. Surprised it's not on the list in the OP, I think a fully loaded GTI would be much more fun than a base A4

I am a VW fanatic and I can tell you that I love the S4, but a great handler it is not. It's very front heavy. Are they fast? Sure! Would it put a smile on your face? Absolutely, but I would not sit here and say that it is much better than an F30. Fast Audis are fast on the straight line, but around a track their flaws show.[/QUOTE]

have you driven an S4 around a track? Read reviews and comparisons and I think you will find that you are mistaken. They arent the bow heavy barges that forum lovers think they are. All road cars have understeer built in as its the safer way to travel. Having said that, I could do donuts on snow in my B8 A4.

BMW guys who say the S4 understeer like crazy either hasn't ever driven one or doesn't know how to drive one.
The sport diff really rotates the car and AwD is always slow in fast out. I had a S4 previous to my 440 and I can honestly say that if driven correctly the S4 has no more significant understeer than the 440. Go into a corner too fast with any car will give you understeer.
A4 is a different matter as it doesn't have the sport diff and it does understeer more than the S4 and BMW.

My F30 definitely does not have "soft suspension". Have you driven a F30 with S704 Sports suspension?
Exactly. Own both e92 and Fxx as well as x5 gran coupe and 5erGT and they're ALL GREAT. Just all of them have different feels from light to heavy but they're all badass in their own rights.

Coincidentally, I got a nice little drive yesterday in a 2013 E92 328i. No M Sport/Sport Pkg, nothing special. Automatic. Base wheels. Even it had head and shoulders better dynamics than the last F30 328i I drove which was M Sport 8AT.

BMW built a better car but a worse BMW. And I'm pretty sure that's why the majority of us by their products. At this point, they have precious little separating them from and giving buyers a reason to not purchase MB, Audi, Jag, etc.

It pains me to say that, but it's just the truth. There was a time when Nissan was my favorite MFR. Now, I have no reservations in saying Nissan is a shell of who they once were. The SE-R's are all gone, the GT-R is a bloated technowizzard GT, they have no more proper SUV's here, the Z car is horribly dated, they refuse to make a sub-Z enthusiast car. It's a shame. But I don't sugar coat.

I know plenty about the S4. As a matter of fact it is one of my favorite sedans, but I also know what they are capable of. The 3er is also one of my favorite sedans and it's not a perfect car either.

The F30 could in fact have a better steering feel, but it is not to the point that it won't handle any better than the E90. I like the F30 and it fits my needs.m

The GTI has always been a great car, even during their dull time in the 90s, they weren't too bad. I really like the GTI and the MKVII is the best yet in my opinion. I almost bought one.

I may or may not agree with your list, but again you own them both and I have only driven the GTI a couple of times.

I do have a very modified MKV GLI and that car has been a great car. Owned for around 10 years now. Even with 150K, it still runs great. I will say that VW has implemented a better EPS than BMW, but BMW is not too far off.
