Cel after Bms intake installation

Hey guys, so recently I decided to change my stock intake and replace it with a cold air intake from Bms. Everything is installed properly, but I got a cel the day after and it's been three days with it still on. I scanned the car and it said something about the MAF sensor and high air flow. I contacted Bms and they said to reset adaptations. Any other takes on the issue ?? I really don't want to be driving around with a light on. Thanks

Common knowledge that the BMS intake messes with the MAF numbers and will just flat out sometimes cause a check engine light.. you can try to reset adaptions and it may be enough or it may come back on again randomly. Unfortunately it may just be what it is with that intake. lots of people end up reselling it, lots of people are happy with it. Research ahead of time here and not on facebook with mods, trust me itll save you a lot of time and trouble.

Yup. You should spend a few hours researching any mod before you decide to buy it, potential more time depending on how "big" the mod it (i.e., intake maybe less time but turbo upgrade more time). Also, BMS is a hot air intake.

This thread makes it seem like everyone is getting a CEL, in reality, it's a very small number. But I completely understand if you do not want to risk it and would rather wait to get the JB4 first.

I also recommend you check out the CTS intake, no CEL even if the car is stock

I've gotten a CEL one time with my bms in a 1/2/3/4/5/6 gear pull, I gave a little idle surge and what not, I'm debating unplugging MAF since I'm tuned but can't get a definitive answer if it's ok

CTS is a good intake if you want noise, but really just keep the stock intake... https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1765289

Also, unplugging the MAF is "OK" because the car will run without it, but you should specifically get a speed density tune if you want to run MAF-less.

Thank you for that, I'm debating doing a turbo upgrade and want to see what I can do to bring the filter to the grill area (front mount) which would be no MAF, that solves that question now, when I tune for it I'll have that mentioned when I go that route
Thank you

It's NOT okay unless you have a special tune for it.
