I ordered mine for March production. I didn't want the car coming until May as I am doing the BMWFS 6 month pull thru. May is my last payment on my 2012 Z4 the next 6 FS are eating.
Now that the car is ordered I want it sooner! LOL

My car should cross the equator in the next day or two. I don't know why being in the Northern Hemisphere is exciting to me. I guess any event showing progress is one step closer to my garage.

How are you all getting such detailed timelines? On bmwusa website I ssaw that my car started production last Monday 3/23. No updates since.

It very much depends on where your car is coming from. The BMW Line is much more up to date when your car is coming out of Germany or the U.S. Cars from South Africa can be as much as 6 days off.

Production is pretty straight forward though. 5-6 days in production then Body, then paint shop. From there it gets tricky. There are a bunch of forums on Hyper-Stalking a BMW. Start with your VIN, the 7th to last digit is the country code. Post it here or look up a BMW VIN translation table.

How do you find out your VIN when it gets assigned? I don't see anything obvious on the status tracker on bmwusa site.

Call your CA (Client Advisor), they have access to BMWs direct system. Ask him for a vehicle status report, which includes the VIN, and a more detailed status report.

Also use the BMW auto line, it is more up to date than the website. It works with either the Production Number or the last 7 of the VIN (US Only I believe).

It should update as soon as the scanners are loaded in to the system. Usually 24-48 hours before the BMW phone line.

Going to be a sweet ride, be sure to post pics.

Nice, let us know how long it takes to get on a truck. I'm hoping not to have to sit and wait on customs, VCP, and a freight-liner too long.

Here's an update from the dealer this morning. The ship arrived 3/29 in NJ. I wasn't expecting these delays in getting it to Boston, but at least it is here and on its way...

Arrive At VPC: 3/29/15
Process Confirmed: 4/1/15
Ship from VPC: 4/3/15
Dealer Delivery: 4/4/15

To be fair, it has to clear customs before making it to the VCP. Not to mention the Faust is a major carrier at a major port and likely offloaded a few thousand cars.

So if the ship arrived on the 29th, it likely took all day to get the cars scanned on to the Auto Lot. It's then customs job to come inspect and scan the cars before the BMW VCP can do any work on them. If you have port installed options they will be installed here, also if there are any scratches or dents to take care of from shipping (it happens quite often apparently). At the very least, a BMW tech has to fully inspect the car.

Once scanned "ready to ship" BMW logistics has to move the car in a covered freight-liner, granted they have trucks moving all the time, but it still can take a few days to move. I've heard up to 2 weeks.

Dealer delivery isn't your pick-up date, it's typically the day after and chances are your dealership doesn't have service hours on a Sunday (Not to mention that's a holiday weekend). I'm guessing you'll pick up the car the week of the 6th

I'd say the timeline you were given is optimistic.

I emailed the dealer this morning for an update, and he said it arrived yesterday, 4/1! Three days earlier than the status he gave me on Monday. Picking it up at 9:30am tomorrow. I'll be sure to post some pictures this weekend. They definitely put some buffer in the timeline once it gets through VPC...or I just got lucky. Either way I'll take it.
