Something French and something tactical, the French carry their own steak knives and that's good enough for me.

Time for a new lid.
My beloved Arai XD-4 finally timed out and is no longer in production so I needed a new ADV helmet. After a LOT of helmet research (and a couple "try on" trips to my local Most Excellent Motorcycle Gear Shop), I pulled the trigger. It's a special order but should be here next week. Airoh Commander 2 Mavick in Red Gloss. R.

Finally got this in - it had to make a flight out of Bahrain that for some incomprehensible reason kept getting delayed. I was starting to get a little nervous it would ever arrive. And it took 4 size-trials to find the right one; kudos to Northstar Motorsports for being willing to ship/return til I found the right size (no place local that stocks Bell).

I took the Minister to a Champagne-pairing Dinner tonight since I asked her to marry me 16 years ago yesterday.
The dinner was fantastic! R.

Ubiquity cloud gateway.
This is way nicer than a consumer router. Having PoE, no extra power supply for the AP. Supervisor approved. |

Internet Upgrayedd that was over my router’s capacity. Wanted something without wifi since I already had their AP. Took a good minute to figure out how to set it up, and adopt the AP. Last edited by Frostynorth; 04-23-2026 at 08:34 PM.. |

The latest obsession has clearly been pocket knives, I find the Laguiole's to be beautiful and have an older one coming from a gentleman in Ukraine (second picture).

Yes, the bee is a nice touch and the one coming from Ukraine has a beautiful leaf pattern going down the back of the knife. My research on the knife says it's from the 90's. Enjoy your day.

Is that a Buck folding hunter next to the 2 Laguioles? Buck knives were my early introduction to good knives and what separates them from the cheapo crap (like that $5.95 K-Bar knockoff from the back of the comic book).

I'll admit I have a thing for flashlights. The newest edition I intend to mount on a tactical shotgun. I like Petzl lights, I have a pair of their trail running headlamps also.

Fellow rally photographer put together a photo book and I had to buy one. Seeing someones work in print is so much more rewarding than on screen. He did an amazing job for first time doing a book. Gives me ideas on what I should shoot for with mine.

10 sheets (so far) of T1-11 siding. Some of the siding on our house is looking rough, but a full vinyl residing estimate came in at $25-30k. The contractor doing this repair work estimates around $10k with a full house repaint when the siding is done. I like the wood siding better anyway, so it was an easy choice. Crappy cell phone pic.
