Installed the Alpha One amp into the F31 that left the factoy with the HiFi system.
It’s pretty good. Clearer, crisper, louder. Decent difference for just an amp. Biggest problem is now I’m tempted to do some speaker upgrades. |

Installed an aftermarket 15” screen, upgrade from the 10.25”, and I’m loving it! Recently put a couple new trim pieces too. And of course gave it a good wash. BTW, Chemical Guys Black Magic soap is amaaaazing!
Next step is a paint correction and then put on a replacement carbon fiber lip |

Installed some Komi SAs onto my wagon and it rides incredibly. Especially given the old struts and shocks were 10 yrs old.

“Installed an aftermarket 15” screen, upgrade from the 10.25”, and I’m loving it!“. Nice job!
I see you have a 2016. So do I. I installed a v4.1 head unit and had it coded to upgrade to Apple Car Play. How did you do it? Which 15 in. screen did you install? Did it need to be coded? Also, more pictures please, of the mounting area and from the front of the car. |

1 - My original head unit, v. 2.3, was coded over the web. It kept crashing and the backup camera display was intermittent. Luckily, the coder was able to restore the original ID4 program. 2 - I bought a v. 4.1 head unit off eBay. It arrived with a cd inside. I installed it but the new coder said it was defective. 3 - The eBay seller exchanged the head unit with another v.4.1 head unit. Third time’s the charm - it worked. Words of caution for those attempting this: - There are European v. 4.1 head units showing up on eBay. I was told they won’t receive Sirius XM. - I bought a 25 amp. Stanley charger from Amazon to keep the battery charged during coding. It worked well. I can’t say enough about Straight Six Auto parts on eBay. I bought the head unit from them. Their price was reasonable (for a used head unit!) and they stuck with me through my issues. If you’re interested in doing this I would contact them to see if they have the part, even if it isn’t listed. Codemybimmer was awesome. Steve checked out several head unit listings for me until he found a good one. The coding to ID6 went well. My only problem is that Automatic Map Updates is now synced to the new head unit’s original region, not mine, and I was unable to change it. BMW Connected Drive opened a case to resolve the issue. I updated the GPS map in the replacement head unit by myself. I bought the latest map online and installed it with a USB drive. |

https://a.aliexpress.com/_mr7Y19U Pretty simple and straightforward, connects to the head unit and you can still switch to the NBT menu from it. Runs off of Android and has wireless Apple CarPlay, no coding needed. Mount is built in and connects to the same 2 screws as the OEM screens |

Long weekend! Put summer wheels on and Jesus, the shop I let put on my winters (new tires) must have torqued the lugs to 200 fp. With each jump on the breaker bar, I was waiting on one to snap. Then new rotors, pads, brake fluid flush. G2 caliper paint.
As well as I plan it never goes as expected 😡. The s$&t schawben bleeder I got at ECS was just awful. Wouldn’t hold pressure because of terrible seal design. Fell in bottle 3 times. Literally took me 3x as long as it should have. Anyway, nice spirited drive and wash when finished makes the maintenance well worth it! |

Installed the active autowerke exhaust
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2097216 X-post: Well, I finally took off my stock 328i base exhaust and installed the Active Autowerke's exhaust. If you haven't watched any videos or read the directions on their website the installation does require cutting the original exhaust at about the dimple point where BMW would cut to install an M Performance exhaust (which might be nice as it's likely that I can swap to that easy enough). Rather than go the wimpy roller cutter tool way I bought a wireless Milwaukee Sawzall with a carbine blade. It didn't disappoint, really made quick work of the exhaust. I did this on 4 jack stands so wasn't looking up on a lift however, after several thoughts of how to cut the exhaust I ended up in a prone position (think army style) to cut down towards the ground. After that It was pretty smooth undoing the exhaust bracket bolts to drop the OEM exhaust. Solenoid unplugged easily enough and I utilized a jack with some MDF to slowly lower it down (since this was a one man show). Removing the exhaust hangers was pretty easy with a $15 tool and really sped up how many times I had to put them on and take them off. Now for those who have installed this exhaust the next part is an absolute blur. The Active Autowerke directions (or lack there of) leave you totally guessing about rehanging the exhaust mounts and which way the supplied hardware goes. This forum was the only place where someone had pictures and orientation. Thank you for those that have done this before as it took my an hour or so to figure it out and find an appropriate thread. Installing the new exhaust, hardware, and rehanging went fairly quickly once the orientation was correct. Here are a couple photos of the correct mounting for the exhaust brackets and supplied hardware. The sound is honestly amazing. I'm so glad I finally went this route despite the poor directions. Passenger side, utilize the longer supplied bracket and orient it with the hanger nub pointing towards the drivers side and towards the inner portion of the car. Driver's side, utilize the shorter supplied bracket with the bracket oriented towards the passenger side of the vehicle and towards the inner portion of the car. Fully installed Exhaust tips sneaking out a bit Took me substantially longer than the 1-hour on the website. Maybe if I was a pro Last edited by wishbone; 04-15-2024 at 06:20 AM.. |

Fractured my wrist snowboarding back in February, which only recently healed enough to finally work on the car again. I have a nice list of things to do, so I started with painting an "LCI" rear bumper diffuser and installing the M4 style wing I've had sitting around since last summer.
Sometimes wanting to try something different just doesn't work out, as I'm not sold the look. I can say I won't be keeping the wing. The diffuser piece I'm on the fence about, but it'll stay paint matched for now since I do like how it looks wingless. Last edited by Silence*; 04-14-2024 at 11:03 PM.. |

Awesome, I'm not too far, Irving Park area. I actually haven't been to any of the Windy City ones, but went to the North Suburbs C&C before it got shut down. There was a great turnout there. Yes - seeing all the M3's and M5's has me itching for more all the time, ha
