Jeez
Ok. I had to start a completely new account here at the BimmerForum.
I had an account, but I was an idiot, and used an ALT-code in my username, and I can't use alt-codes on my new mobile phone. My old username was m³shelly. I'm using up posts, so I can send, and receive PMs with my new username. |

My story is this... I had a version of the coding software that I 'bought' from a download site, that had NCSExpert, Ediabas, and INPALoad. That was >5 years ago, since I had just bought an e90 335ix (2011), and I was successful at changing a bunch of options on that car.

That software package came with ESYS, and what I thought was everything to code the F-Series cars. I put bought in parentheses, because I didn't pay anything but a few bucks for the convenience. The USB to OBD-II cable was more expensive.

Then, last week I purchased a new(er) car... a 2016 340ix. So, I pulled out the old downloaded, .zip files, and unzipped the F-series files. Well, it didn't work for the newer car. That was 2012 or 2013, so it didn't surprise me.

So, I went back online again to search for a newer version of Esys, with a token generator that would work on my newer car. I was finally successful. I talked to the car and changed one KOMBI parameter, to add the digital speedo on the BC options in the middle of the speedo (which wasn't a huge deal for me, since my car has HUD anyway).

I did notice that some of the CAFD files, under a few of the modules, gave me errors when trying to read them. I am assuming that's because the version of Esys I found last night was still slightly too old for my car (I'm not really sure though).

Then, I went back in tonight to try and code some more changes, and the damn .EST token file failed to work!! So, first, let me apologize for posting a bunch of posts on this thread, to give me access to the PM system.
Second, can I please ask for a PMed link to a newer version of Esys, and a token generator? |

Also, if you know anyone interested, I'm selling a 2000 M5 (e39) right now. It's in nearly perfect condition, black on black. (I was never successful at coding anything on that car, but I didn't try too much, since there isn't much to be changed on the e39s.

So, if I could please, please ask for links to the newest versions? I would much appreciate it.
Also, if anyone here needs .zipped copies of the e9x software, I have that. I would have to upload to my DropBox account though, since I don't have a website to host the data files. I will say, after my first experience using ESYS, it is much, much easier to use than NCSExpert and INPAload. BMW is definitely simplifying the software, and anyone with an F-series car is so lucky to be using a simpler software and coding method. |

Thanks again Shawn.
Maybe I should have waited before saying NCSExpert and INPA-Load was more difficult. As stated earlier in this thread, I was able to get E-Sys working, using E-Sys Launcher Pro with the FDL Editor working for ONE DAY! I put it down since it was getting late, and I didn't have access the next day (the PIN didn't work). I came here to try and re-download everything, now using Launcher Premium, going through all the date-change steps for the Launcher Work-Around, and I still get the Date Incorrect or Manipulated error. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be helpful. I have a different laptop I will try later tonight if I have time. Thanks! Shelly Last edited by m3shelly; 08-08-2019 at 12:03 PM.. |

SUCCESS!! (again)

Thanks so much for the support here! And, if you're watching, thanks to everyone who added to the database of values to change for specific functions. I changed about 90% of the things I wanted to change, primarily removing the seat belt notifications, and legal screen disclaimers. Thanks again!!! |

I wanted to add, for those of you who downloaded and read thru the ''cheat codes' PDF. The last page lists codes that haven't been proven yet. I tried to change mine so the brake didn't need to be pushed to start the car. Don't do it!
I changed mine and the car wouldn't start. The doors would open and the ignition would turn on, but the starter wouldn't engage to start the car. [EDIT: starter wouldn't engage with, or without the brake pedal depressed.] I immediately plugged back in to reconnect, changed that one code back, and all was well. If I were to try again, I would change that code, and there's another one that's nearly identical. Perhaps they both need to be modified? It's not that important really; I just thought it would be convenient to start the car by reaching across when I'm putting a backpack in the right-front seat.
