BMW 320i
Yesturday I've been testing the 320i with a 6spd manual result were good. In eco pro mode coasting and cruising around 70km/h I was able to manage around 3-4L/100kms. I would need futher testing to get better numbers. For the F30 owner, is the trottle response so different between eco pro and sport mode? What about the steering feel as well? During my road test I wasn't to impress by those 2 items. For sure I'm use to a 1M but I did try in sport mode but even there it wasn't that much impressive.

Through 1946 miles of Autoban / city driving (80/20), mine averaged about 29.2mpg overall. I suspect that number will go up a bit here in the States - was very impressed. And I kept the car in Sport mode w/ stop/start off most of the time. (Mine is a 6MT)

So far I've only done about 150 miles in the car (mixed town/rural driving) and I'm still on my first tank of gas! Current reading is 33.4 (UK) mpg.

I want to throw in the numbers from my 3rd tank of gas (all US measurements).
I filled up after driving 460.4 miles on a single tank. The car reported 31.6 mpg. I put in 14.484 gallons, for a calculated 31.79 mpg. If I had put in only .085 gallons more, the calculated mpg would have been 31.60. That's close enough for me to say that the car's reported mpg is precisely accurate. After refueling this morning, I continued to drive for 42 miles in Comfort Mode. Long commute, mostly highway. The car's reported conservation was 40.4 mpg at an average speed of 60.0 mph. Obviously, playing around with the car when I'm not driving to/from work, plus the times the commute involves stop-and-go traffic, makes the average mpg for an entire tank less than 40 mpg, but still it's a heartening fuel economy. 2013 328i Sport Line. |

Fwiw the problem with asking for mpg is that an Imperial gallon is bigger than a US gallon so unless everyone states which one they are referring to, the comparison doesn't work.
I've gotten around 25mpg in the city and 35mpg with a lot of freeway. 328i w/ US gallons Divide the UK number by 1.2 to compare to the US number. |

2013 335ix, 1600 miles total on the odo, my commute is 100% city/suburb ranging from 55 mph to 25 mph and maybe 10 lights over 10 miles. I'm averaging 20.5 mpg (USA gallons) driving conservatively and in comfort mode. On the freeway I've seen numbers north of 24 mpg (~80 mph), but not by much. When driving aggressively I've seen it down as low as 16 mpg.
Avg speed is in ~20mph |

RWD 90/10 Highway/City 27.5mpg with "average speed" of 60 mph. Mix of EcoPro (80%)/Comfort (15%)/Sport (5%) I usually cruise at 80-85mph. I was getting 30-33mpg at 62mph, but I got bored.

When you all state the average mpg for a tank, you should include the average mph too. For example, my "mixed" driving yields 31-33 mpg, with an average speed of 30mph. You might also get 31-33 mpg, but if your average speed is 45mph then your mix is obviously more highway and less city. Knowing the mph helps make a more accurate comparison.

This has been an interesting read. It seems the computer is still optimistic on its MPG calc's.
The MPG people are reporting with this car is downright impressive given its performance and their cruising speeds. In ECO mode can start/stop still be disengaged? I would not think the small MPG advantage of stop/start is worth the wear/tear on mechanical components (most specifically the starter). You may save a few bucks in gas but first time you have to replace a BMW starter you'll have eaten up all that savings... |

I have done a lot of 250 miles trips in the car. During summer would easily get 35 miles per gallon. Now a days I have been getting 33 mpg on highway but have been using sports mode a little more.
45 miles of my drive is in mountainous terrain which decrease the avg mpg by 1 to 1.5 mpg. I Keep it on cruise control at 79 mph. Hardly any difference between eco and comfort mode. However Eco mode is horrible to increase speed while on cruise control and is the main reason I stopped using it on highway. |

Normal driving (50% city/50% highway)...25MPG
Extended Highway cruising (70-73mph)...40MPG <---EcoPro, confirmed with fillup vs. computer... ...needless to say, I'm very happy...
