If I were not working from home and also providing full time care for my 103yr old grandmother and also our small children, I would accompany my relatives who drove down this morning with a boat in tow to physically help as well. But yes, any means to bring awareness to this cause is warranted.

Aww babe, I'm an atheist, and i have no idea how it could be boasting in any way to post a link to red cross campaign, and to donate a few buck to it. I am proud of my son tho, i hadn't even looked up the red cross page before he wanted to give his hard earned cash to them.

But anyway, let's make this all about me, and you'd be surprised how much effort people have put in to collecting money for different causes.

Well survived to this point despite literally every neighbor in a 3 block radius (other than a small few like me who are elevated) having water in their homes - unbelievable event - we've had over 30" in less than 2 days (twice the rate Allison) - NE Houston has 40+" and may top out north of 50"!!! Have had cost guard/national guard helos rescuing folk from roof tops and boats getting people out. Bizarrely whilst we lost power for a while we have it back which is remarkable.

For ref, I was a victim of the Memorial Day 2015 floods and had the decision to either elevate (and reconstruct whole house which I did) or leave - very few have acted in time to do the same (increasing numbers are doing so) and many of my neighbors fall in the bucket of folk that delayed deciding or are waiting a ridiculous amount of time for federal assistance to raise.

Have tried to assist a few neighbors to date but now most if not all have left and/or are being rescued out of here - weird to be practically alone on the street now watching the next mega rains fall - keeping fingers crossed nearby Braes Bayou can hold off overbanking again this evening. But unfortunately this is far from over as we have another 2 days where my area alone might get an additional 12-15 more inches - hell of a ride so far.

PS: Installed a two car lift so cars are also elevated - actually the M4 is elevated in my local custom shop getting the brake calipers painted , finally! - another lesson from Memorial Day!

Many people post their cars on here for adulation and competing. Using the natural desire to compete of a bunch of testosterone-driven males (and some females) in order to raise money for a good cause is a much better course to take than merely criticizing those who attempt to goad others into helping.

But it's cool, I'm sure the victims are super appreciative of you for discouraging people talking about donating.
