Can anyone educate me why the fitment guide suggests et 42 for track and not also suggesting et 30/31 offset? I know both will work, I just wondered what benefits the et 42 may give?

On the F3X chassis, the 18x9" ET42 requires a 5mm front spacer to fit on stock suspension but will provide you with a bit more fender-side clearance compared to the 18x9" ET30. This is beneficial when running more aggressive R-compound tires, as you will be less likely to rub compared to running the same tires/sizes on the 18x9" ET30. With that being said, the 18x9" ET30 is typically the superior choice for a square setup on the F3X, as it does not require a 5mm front spacer and is able to provide a direct fit in most cases when using street tires. We have seen customers run 245/40-18, 255/35-18, and 255/40-18 tire sizes on the 18x9" ET30 on stock or lowered F3X's without any rubbing. However, due to the lower offset, you will have a higher chance of rubbing on the fenders if you plan to use more track-focused tire compounds. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out! -Geirsen

So I’ve read through pretty much every thread on this subject but haven’t quite found confirmation for my F30 XDrive on H&R sport springs: For the Arc 8’s 18x9 et 30, can I get away with a squared setup of 255/40 in Michelin PS4S? I’d like to keep the thicker sidewall due to road conditions around me. I’m not opposed to 255/35 and I know 245/40 is basically a direct fit with my setup but I’d like the wider wheel coverage if I can manage it without rubbing. Thanks for the help! P.S. I appreciate your previous response a few months back. I’ve since decided to stick with 18’s rather than 19’s due to road conditions and tire prices lol. Will be ordering in the next week or so. Finally! |
