Castrol Edge 0W40 (track it) Mobil1 0W40 (track it. Wouldn't use in N54 due to high Sulfated ash). Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 (track it). Currently Motul 300V 5W40 but that oil is best suited for a lot of track use. Any oil that has MB229.5 is excellent choice for N5X engines (besides M1 0W40 for N54) and LL01. But LL01 is not necessary for N5X engines as it was updated in 2018 to address specific N20 problems and some demands of B46/48 and 58 engines. It also dropped 0W30/40 oils from approval (LL01 and LL04). Comprehensively, MB229.5 approval is most stringent among so call full SAPS oils. These ILSAC oils are low HTHS energy conserving oils. They have lower HTHS (most important variable when it comes to protection), higher Noack (evaporation) limits, higher oxidation etc. |
