I've decided not to get the tune since my BMW dealer is sticking to his gun on the $700 labor charge. If anyone wants to sell his "M Performance" sticker, I won't mind buying it for upto $700; that way I can get some cheap power.

Gimme a break! $700?? Get real...no other dealers in your area? Just drive 30 mins to PHX and save some money. That's asinine.

im at dealer now getting it installed. At first SA said "several hours" and i showed him the pdf instruction sheet, which quickly changed estimated times. That being said ive already been here 2 hours and they started working pretty fast, but I made it clear that billable time can't be more than 1.75 as that's what the sheet says. Plus i have 12/12 build so don't need new DME or anything. Hardware didn't take long to put on. I walked back and saw new airbox and decals...decals are meh, and told them to skip it. you get some other plaques for the engine and obviously the cover.

Part of the time is "download time" which takes up to an hour and functions like any software update you dl according to SA. Just make sure you hold them to the 1.75 hours max labor billable, and you make it clear you're not paying for a slow download.

Seeing the PDF from BMW gives you a good amount of negotiating.

Good...thanks for the insight. I printed the .pdf yesterday and will take it with me to the dealer. I'm also giving some thought to doing the install of the engine cover and airbox here at home...why pay them for something so simple? That way, all it will be is the software download and a little programming I've been wanting (ASS remember-last-setting, etc.).

So does doing this mean that all coding will be lost and we will be on a new data file and have to code from scratch?

Ordered the kit today with employee pricing and install $940 so figured it was worth a shot for the power gains if not oh well can't win them all. I'm going to try and do a baseline dyno and after dyno at a local shop to see how it does

Elite or Otto's? Thanks

If you get the new DME, then probably yes; if you keep your DME, it shouldn't affect your coding, although there's a feature that lets you save your "profile" and then re-import it, but this may or may not cover any special coding you have done.

Ask your dealer. Depends on the DME model.

You guys should of just bought the AH3 if you wanted the extra HP.
Really though who know the true HP of a 335, I have heard 300 and 306. I have also heard the hybrid engine adds 40 and 55 HP. So if I add this tune and go with the higher numbers will my AH3 have 306+55+20ish from tune. So 381 HP and I keep my warranty. Sounds great. Hope price falls soon.
I have no complaints now with the power in my car. Love it.

Yeah, how much weight does the AH option add over the non-hybrid, and what's the additional cost? I'll take the MPPK for <$1000 installed.

With the Eco credit it's really not that bad. You get an extra $3500 off and a 1.9% rate. If you figure $1500 for this tune the AH3 might be cheaper. Not 100% sure.
