The Msport doesn't, because BMW claims the US market needs the added cooling air flow supplied by removing the fog lighs. Maybe that is what has you confused. Yes, I already stated that to get the increased limit you have to have the higher speed rated tires. And that's all the limiter is based on. That "extra" cooler, I haven't read anything mentioning it. There was an additional cooler added back on the E90 after the initial release of the N54, as they found it was needed. But, that has nothing to do with the speed rating. It's the tires. It makes no logical sense that you HAVE to have an extra cooler to go an additional 25mph. The tires speed rating has a distinct impact on the speed limiter as your cars speed limit shouldn't exceed the tires capability. This is not new to BMW. Even with NA engines BMW has offered the increased speed rating and it was based on getting the sport package, which came with higher speed rated tires, no additional cooling needed. Again, do you have any actual reference information showing that this "extra" cooler exists only on cars with the raised limit, please post a source. Last edited by RPM90; 11-20-2012 at 09:37 PM.. |

"Well known fact" was in reference to Sport and M-sport models getting the extra cooler for the passenger (I originally said driver) side. I didn't use that term to describe the raised limit. The "extra cooler" on the (US) driver's side is available on 335i M-sport models. I don't know if you get the cooler on the driver's side if you order All Season tires with a 335i M-sport. |

Getting back to the original topic. Is the M Performance Power Kit coming in January to dealerships? Is it just code or will it require other equipment?
It seems like the PPK people are ordering is not reprogramming to get more horsepower. Just exhaust and black kidney grills? |

The true PKK has been released yet, I believe. That is a 30HP bump and additional add-ons. |

Your comment: So the logical conclusion to be drawn is that option code 840 for Increased Top Speed Limiter adds the extra cooler. I'm saying that the cooler is not relevant to the higher speed rating. The speed rating is due to the tires. As one poster has stated even non sport 335i's have that cooler, so it's not relevant to the speed rating. If this cooler is relevant to the speed rating, I'm asking to see the reference source for this information. I understand that you may not have this information. I don't agree that one can make your logical conclusion without that information. Last edited by RPM90; 11-23-2012 at 12:56 AM.. |

Just got off a 10 minute call with my BMW parts' dept. and gave him the parts number mentioned in that pdf.
He could not pull it off. However he did mention that the system indicates that the PPK for F30 is scheduled to be launched in the US in Feb 2013 He anyway got down my VIN and is planning to email corporate to find out more details on the exact price for labor/parts for the PPK as well as more concrete dates if available. |

Man, a new ECU makes it a bit expensive. But if we get just the tune and cosmetic stuff, it shouldn't be more than $600 right? I wouldn't know, never had a BMW before so I'm optimistic.
EDIT: N/m... looks like most of us here now will need the new ECU. Only post 11-12 cars will not need the ECU.

I'm kind of glad for the confusion and delays...
#1 - I'm in break-in period so the extra power is useless anyways #2 - It gives third party companies more time to play around and optimize |
