Looks a fantastic spec and money off seems decent. Never used SRAM as always been a Shimano guy but as the etap it will be very very good.
Great all round cassette gearing and carbon rims too. Can’t see too many drawbacks

I called the store in Glasgow who have the stock and they aren’t offering any discount. Will keep persisting and see how I get on. Ordered the voucher from my work scheme which takes 2-3 weeks so will see. |

Not sure how old your Canyon is but why not put the money towards a set of new wheels and tubeless setup??
I had a 2016 Defy and was tempted by a new one but ended up with an Orbea. Little more aggressive but to me it’s a much faster bike. All depends what you want from the new bike i guess |

I have a 2018 Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 9.0 (Carbon 58mm wheels, dura ace 9100 mechanical, carbon cockpit) and this cost me £4450 back in 2018 only thing I am really wanting to change for is 28mm tyres and disc brakes... I thought about changing it but I cant find anything which is as good for the same money.. The only thing which does tickle my fancy a little is the Cannondale systemsix https://www.sigmasports.com/item/Can...Bike-2022/VHWL im not too keen on that colour scheme but if I can find it on in black available on the scheme I could be tempted. |

Can anyone recommend some good bib shorts?
I need new ones (probably 2-3 pairs) and can’t believe the price of them now. I’m seeing £175-250 which is way more than I paid last time (granted 3 or 4 years ago). I’m comfortable paying around 120ish for a good pair. Thanks. |

Nearly always deals of some sort on the go, particularly with Le Col, who do the £50 Strava vouchers for the challenges - well worth doing as they can be used on sale items too. They recently changed the minimum spend, was £100, now £125 but still good value. For Castelli, worth checking the usual sites, so Chain reaction / Wiggle, Probikekit, Sigma, Merlin etc. Do you know your size? |

Its pretty much my all weathers commute (road) and lesuire bike so ready for a change all the same. Looking at the market is shocking but I have to accept 9 years has passed for me, I also got 15% due to a pricing error - something like 3500 in total. During the begining of covid there was a crazy cervelo dura ace di2 2021 r5 from 10k to 5k and was tempted, I went into sigma sports in Kingston and they'd sold 20 odd in a week and were all gone Now I can use the cycle scheme for 4k also is a nice help really was impressed with tubeless ride and discs (exalith helps on the AL rims but discs in the wet are the business) I had a cannondale before that and loved it (the one you posted looks great) I placed a deposit today (can get it for 4600) with 4k being in vouchers. Just need to order the vouchers now. My only dilemma is the sizing, I tried my LBS for Defy frames today and I am on the cusp between M and M/L at 5"10. Both felt ok my canyon is M - thats a regular 56 frame AFIAK but Giant are tricky I understand due to sloping frame etc. |

The new steed. Parted company with my previous Specialized Roubaix for this Cervelo Caledonia, it’s very nice, am looking forward to putting some miles on it 👍

hi guys placed order for defy advanced pro 2021 waiting for voucher to clear they have both m & m/l in stock currently set on M.
my canyon is a M(56) but the giant is M (54 but effective 56 so i believe) i test rode a defy m and ml but with jeans and trainers couldn’t tell much diff. i do like my current canyon looking at this which bike looks closer to the canyon - m or m/l? seat tube ct looks way off but i believe the giant is compact so can’t be relied on thanks https://geometrygeeks.bike/compare/g...slx-2014-m-56/ |

In this instance though you're changing frame type, from road 'racing' to road 'endurance.' Endurance frames are shorter, with a higher head tube, thus placing the rider in a more upright position. I think you need to decide what you're trying to achieve, how many spacers you want under the stem etc. Reach and stack are the two most important measurements. As the Canyon is a race geometry, its reach is longter than either of the Defy sizes (2mm in case of M/L and 6mm in case of M). Much bigger differences between the stack measurements, with the M Defy being 7mm higher and the M/L 26mm higher, which is a lot. If you're running nearly 26mm of spacers under your Canyon stem, I'd go with the M/L, as you'd be able to run it almost slammed (when the stem is as low as possible). Doubt you'd notice the 2mm difference in reach either. It depends what you want to achieve with your riding position. Can you post a pic of your Canyon to show how its set up? Are you happy with the position? |

On the canyon you are correct it’s pro race geo the only change I’ve made to this was to invert the stem (I’m sure I did to increase the stack perhaps as its angled upwards) it’s defo not default. Canyon v13 stem allows for plus or minus 6 degrees it seems I think my body is odd I’m 5”10 with short legs I wear 30” jeans and therefore quite long torso and arms. Indeed the defy is endurance too so I have to appreciate the frame diff. I wouldn’t complain if it was a little more relaxed but I do like the canyon setup it feels good to me. I notice under this pic stolen from eBay that there are plenty of spacers on the M/L version of the defy to play with to lessen the stack? Perhaps it can be inverted too. I could also get a longer stem for the medium too I guess. On my limited test ride I didn’t have any issues with the ML apart from the stand over height was a little close for comfort. Will get a pic of the canyon uploaded. Cheers Last edited by dazzapb; 04-15-2023 at 07:30 AM.. |
