So my install is finally finished (thanks a lot to everyone's contribution in this thread) but with some glitches.
I mounted the control module in the trunk temporarily since I am still wating delivery of the bracket to put it in the oem position. I VO coded 2VB and got RDC error when starting the car. I then used rheingold to clear the fault memory and performed initialization. Few minutes drive and my tire pressures and temps were showing in the CIC screen. Now starts the fun. Got back home, happy for my achievement. Next day I start the car, and I get the same RDC error in the combi and CIC screen and it would not display the pressures, neither initialize the reset procedure through idrive. I connect my laptop, start rheingold, clear the fault codes and initialize the RDC controller again and all my pressures come back to the screen looking all normal. I even tried to switch off the car for a few minutes, lock it and restart it and it seemed fine. It would not lose the tpms. The car was parked for a few hours and when I went back to drive it, boom the RDC error again. This thing is driving me nuts. Anyone got a clue why this is happening? Or could I be missing something in the coding process? Thanks in advance for your help. |

Hey there.
I checked with ISTA-D once more regarding the logged errors. To my understanding, it seems that the unit cannot be coded due to it being a second hand unit which has already been paired with another vehicle. If the above is correct, is there any way to reset the unit or do I have to buy another one? As a reminder, after clearing the errors in ISTA+ I can see pressures and temperatures in my CIC screen. |

Did you also code the RDC ecu?

Yes the RDC ecu was also coded after adding 2vb to the VO.
Apparently I am doing something wrong coding, though I cannot understand what that is. Do you think you can guide me through? |

If you mark the RDC ecu and push the button "Code" (not FDL code) the ecu will be coded refering to the loaded VO. But one more question. Does the RDC ecu have a CAFD with a green dot or hook? |

I retrofitted successfully but when I changed to winter wheels which had sensors which were working in an f10 it stopped showing the correct pressure and temp In ista my rdc doesnt have the cafd line How do I inject cafd? |

Hi
I do this and then it brings up a long list of files/folders Do I have to match this my istep or just select the newest/closest one? This should work for all modules which haven't got a cafd right? I retrofitted reverse module too but no coding parameters available as no cafd Thanks |

It doesnt matter. And yes, this should work for all modules. But think of that not all modules got a cafd. |

Just a quick one regarding the part numbers. I have the control unit 6876227 and now looking for the sensors 6856227 but there seem to be variations of this part ie 6856227-01, 6856227-02, 6856227-03, 6856227-04.
Is there any difference? Does it matter which one I choose? |

-04 is a little bit newer revision than -03, but it's no problem. |

Ordered mine - will fit to the can bus wires under iDrive controller as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, so I don't need to touch the FEM as it's a pain accessing that.
Will mount the control unit in the tyre-well area in the boot, hopefully that is far back enough to get the correct signals transmitted, that said, I guess I need to figure out a way of getting the wires to the boot lol! Last edited by TeaAndBiscuits; 12-05-2018 at 10:33 AM.. |

Thanks for your message. There is no CAFD in my RDC ecu. Could you please guide me on how to inject it? I already have the latest esys and psdzdata installed. Thank you. |

So you can try the following: Start E-Sys and connect your car as an F10. Then the usual read FA and read VCM. After that mark the RDC ecu and try to "detect caf for swe". If it works without errors choose a CAFD and hit OK. BUT NOW DON'T CODE THE ECU!!! Don't close E-Sys but disconnect the connection. Connect again as your car series. and again read FA and VCM. The RDC should now still have the assigned CAFD. Now only code the RDC ecu with the assigned CAFD. If that doesn't work you also can flash the RDC ecu and after that you should also be able to assign a CAFD. I hope that was understandable. |
