For a comparable system, here is the cost breakdown: The MPE is ~$1200 and provides little improvement in HP. It is also an exhaust only with no mid pipe. Some vendors are charging $500-600 for the mid pipe (see AWE). Add the dinantronics sport and you have an approximate total of $2,100 to $2,200 plus installation costs of the exhaust system (unless you self installed). The MPPSK kit is new and so far we are seeing prices around $3000 installed. For the extra $800, you have a BMW designed system with factory warranty that includes a cat-back exhaust and tune. You buy one upgrade instead of piecing together an exhaust, mid pipe and a tune that does not carry, and could void, a vehicle warranty. For my money, $800 is cheap for a factory system and oem warranty. If you are going to compare the dinantronics sport power to the MPPSK, lets at least be fair about it

People pay for extra power and they pay for peace of mind with the OEM tune and exhaust. Especially with a brand new engine. I won't be able to afford 3k aftermarket so I won't get it but if I had the money I would. One engine problem that could be attributed to an aftermarket tune, whether it be the cause or not and the difference is paid for. No use pissing on other people values because yours are different

I bit the bullet. Thursday morning appointment at my dealer to get it installed.
Went with Stainless tips bc I think that'll look better on my Mineral Grey M Sport than Carbon Fiber. Really looking forward to feeling the difference in power! |

Not offended. You said it exactly. Over half on the board would wonder why I spent 62k on my wife's 340ix. I understand because I had that logic, then I aged, and now I have more money and buy what I want, decisions aren't always a hp/$ ratio, how much you can afford. It's enjoyment, ease, and lots of factors that people don't understand.

I was roughly quoted at a bit shy of $4,000, but someone else above is getting it for $2,900 out the door. Pretty huge difference.

$3670, of which $310 is sales tax. Thank you, Chicago.

Ha, yeah. There was a pattern there for a while, but I broke it with this last one and bought. That said, I'm willing to invest in a mod like this, but $4,000 is hard to justify. If I can keep it closer to $3,000, that just sits better.

Keep in mind zero tax on my quote for $2900 installed. Live free or die.
My dealer also agreed to do it for 1 hr labor at $138. I pointed out that the BMW install guide says 1hr for the exhaust with the labor charge for the programming extra, to avoid surprises and because I'm honest. They said they'd do it for 1 hr and figure out the rest on their end. |

$ 450 CF exhaust tips $244 (8% sales tax) ------------ $3294 NOTE: Bottom price does NOT include my dealer's installation charge nor programming charge. I can update this post September 28, the day I get it installed, to reflect the total "damages". Just to reiterate, If you're doing this as a Port Installed Accessory, the cost of installation is ZERO! |

Does anyone know the impact of this being tied to your VIN? I'm a big believer in upgrading, using, and then removing parts and selling them when I part with the car(which happens every 1-2 years). Done this with everything from intakes and exhaust to coilovers and sway bars on previous cars. But if this is hard-coded to your VIN and can't be reused/sold to another 340 owner, it's a total non-starter for me.
What I'm referencing is part of the OP that talks about the red-envelope and 10-attempts before the code is locked. It's not made clear if that is something another owner/future buyer could reuse or only the original buyer. Anyone know for certain? |

I just realized it says it on the front page of this post in the details of this kit. Thanks though. I emailed my dealership inquiring about that because my cost is still based on 3.5 hours. Programming of the ECU can't possibly take 2.5 hours, right?
